What a bittersweet night spent in remembrance. I’ll share more tomorrow about the incredibly special Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Ceremony we were able to participate in tonight at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital. I know it will take me hours to even begin to put into words what it meant to me, and how being in that space with people who care helped heal something in me…

After the ceremony concluded and the tears had dried, we found a quiet spot by the water and participated in Wave of Light as the sun sank down. Tonight, we honor and remember Sunday, Iris, and all their friends in heaven.

To everyone who lit a candle for my girls today, thank you could never be enough. Even still, thank you.

I wish this day didn’t exist, but I cannot thank you enough for sitting with me in it and honoring the little lives who forever changed mine.

I know I’m about a month late sharing this, but life took a very unexpected turn, very quickly 🤍

On September 12th, we celebrated our 3rd Annual Stone Carter Foundation Gala at The Bleckley Station, and it was truly a night I will never forget!

I had the opportunity to share Stone’s story, which will forever be my favorite thing to do, celebrate his third birthday in Heaven, and hug so many incredible people who have become part of our journey.

One of the most special moments of the night was our candlelight ceremony, where we honored 82 precious babies by name. 82 babies whose lives mattered, whose stories deserve to be told, and whose names deserve to be remembered 👼🏼

I cannot say THANK YOU enough to every single donor, volunteer, sponsor, and person who helped make this night possible. It was truly a labor of love, and I am so incredibly grateful!

There is no greater feeling than knowing that because of this foundation, these babies have another day to be remembered, another opportunity for their names to be spoken, and another chance for their families to feel surrounded by love.

That is why we do what we do. That is why Stone’s story will never stop being told.

82 babies. 82 stories. 82 lives that will never be forgotten🕯️

TSCF Candlelight Gala 🩵🐘

17 days after Sunday was born still, Brandi (Stone’s Mama and founder of The Stone Carter Foundation) was kind enough to reach out to offer support and invite us to their upcoming Gala. That event was one of the only things I looked forward to last year and was the first place I found myself surrounded by people who, in their own ways, understood my pain.

Yesterday, just over a year later, we had the honor of attending the 3rd Annual TSCF Gala! It was such a special time, reminding me of just how much can change in a year…

This time last year, we didn’t know a soul at the Gala other than my parents. This year, I got to finally meet two loss mama friends from our sweet online community and got to hear their baby’s names spoken out loud in the same room my babies’ names were spoken. We got to share a table with people who have loved Justin and me in ways we don’t even deserve, including the loss mama who first stood in the gap for me when I was too in shock and heartbroken to ask for certain things or know what I’d need when I got home from the hospital. She made me a care basket with notes on each item, and her kindness left me wondering—what about the people who don’t have a Lauren in their life?

This time last year, Forever, My Sunshine was in its early stages and Sunday’s Promise was only an idea. This year, I had the honor of being invited to speak during dinner about this special book and the work we’re doing through Sunday’s Promise!

Last year, we had one deeply loved daughter… This year, we thought I’d be veryyy pregnant at the Gala with her little sister, but instead, we lit two candles for our two little ladies in heaven…

But what a gift it was to see their names in print and hear them spoken aloud, to have their lives remembered outside of our home and alongside so many of their friends in heaven. TSCF gave us all that gift last night.

They are doing incredible things in honor of Stone, and we could not be more thankful for their friendship or more proud of the work they do! What a special, special night honoring the impact and incredible legacy of one special little boy!!

I’m so thankful for the way Forever, My Sunshine illustrator, Sydney Smith @sydneysmithart , poured so much care into the artwork that fills these pages. Her gift for visual storytelling expands upon the words shared, creating a reading experience that honors the story being told and the babies we carry in our hearts in a beautiful way.

Every illustration is filled with thoughtful details and symbolism... Some of these details may have been noticed right away, while others are a bit more layered so I thought it might be sweet to share some of the intention behind the illustrations and the meaning woven throughout the story.

“Ronin Slade was born sleeping on January 13th 2025. He was his mom’s first and only child, and his grandparents first and only grandchild.
He was constantly moving around and kicking his mama. He loved Chick-fil-A peppermint milkshakes, McDonalds fries, and ‘Nonnie Toast’.
Ronin passed away a week before his baby shower. We were so excited to welcome our little dragon.
Ronin is deeply missed every moment of everyday. His family finds comfort knowing he is safe in the arms of Jesus.“ - @itscalledriles

The Ronin Stud was named after Ronin Slade. he was born on January 13th, 2025 at 32 weeks. He passed away due to HELLP syndrome, the most severe and rare form of preeclampsia. By the time it was discovered, Ronin no longer had a heartbeat, and his mom was in liver failure. He passed just one week before his baby shower. Both the shower and his nursery were going to be dragon-themed.
