First - I kinda want to apologize for all of the ads that I’ve been sending across your timelines...I really hate the fact that ads exist and (more or less) have to exist, but if I don’t put those ads out there who’s going to know that I have another dope product droppin at the end of the month (#airmaxpax 3/26!!!)?     I’ve been trying to figure out IG lately...it kinda feels like I’ve hit a plateau...and like 6 months ago I vowed to expand the brand to other platforms (which I haven’t), so I’m trying to figure out other avenues. IG can *really* feel like a grind sometimes. Sometimes I post a quick pic of something I find and it blows up. Other times I craft a written piece that takes me like 4 hours and I don’t even get a comment. And...I know...IG isn’t for writing or big discussions, but the encouragement I get from y’all is pretty significant.     But that’s just how it goes sometimes...it feels like I should be using my time and energy in more efficient ways…If you asked me right now ‘what should you post’? I wouldn’t have any clue, but know that at any given moment on any given day I have like 10,000 things I want to post but I get tripped up and my attention goes elsewhere.     Anyway...I just came across these the other day and it tripped me out. Not sure if y’all caught it on my story the other day - but I bought my first NBA Top Shot pack on a lark and pulled a pretty rare ‘highlight’. When I looked it up, I thought it was gonna get me about $500...not bad as I had JUST bought the pack for $99. Throughout the day I got message after message about the ‘pull’. I still had really zero reference point on what it was or what it meant. But by the time I found out how to look it up, I noticed similar ‘highlights’ were listed for $100k+. WHAT? From a $99 ‘digital pack experience’ I somehow got lucky enough to ‘pull’ a ‘digital highlight’ worth $100k? Is this really life right now?    So...if you thought this was like some new thing...#NBATopShot and these ‘digital highlights’ are NFTs. They made it easy for people to purchase (with USD as opposed to a cryptocurrency), but at the heart of it - they reside on a blockchain and have PROVABLE rarity.     The whole while this is going through my head, I’m forgetting the most important lesson one can learn in the ‘collectibles’ space - something is only *worth* what someone else is willing to pay for it. Looking through the ‘sold’ listings, the highest price was around $15k...all the way down to $7k. Still, not bad for 9 minutes of waiting through an online queue. But a far cry from $100k.    I’ve been debating selling mine...not totally sure what to list it at. I started at $75k, then $55k, then $35k, and now it’s at $20k. No bites. I dunno. I hear it might be a good idea to wait it out as once they’re out of Beta it could go worldwide...whatever.     TBH...I don’t care about the vast majority of these highlights at all. Maybe if I was at the game or watched it live...I love watching the Warriors and all that, but I dunno...Just no connection to it.     NFTs, y’all. For those of you that bought the Dunk cards (#dunkydunks) or the Kobe cards (#824pack) - can I ask WHY you bought them? Like, what motivated you? As you can see, I’m not the best at marketing my creations, but I’m still overwhelmed by the support.     So why’d you buy them?   Was it the desire to rip packs?   Was it the desire to own a piece of a shoe that is financially out of reach?   Was it the desire to experience something new?   Was it for the flip?    Or…    Was it the desire to help support someone you fux with (me)?    Or…    If you didn’t buy any...why?    I want to tag everyone who purchased, but IG only allows 20 ppl to tag. Attention #824Pack purchasers and owners: Trade your duplicates to complete your sets! Being that card packs are all about randomization (the THRILL of the hunt), I've seen a few people pull complete sets out of one box, and others are still short a number of cards after opening TWO boxes (myself included). I've gotten a few DMs about people wanting to trade their duplicates in order to complete their sets...I thought I'd start a thread ON FACEBOOK (I added a link to my bio - top button) so y'all can post your duplicates and what you're looking for...there’s already a few ppl in there requesting and offering...hopefully y'all can get what you're looking for. I’m also sending one purchaser about 200 extra duplicates I had laying around and he said he would distribute them as requests come up.
