Today we had the opportunity to visit the Jae Foundation and learn about the importance of mental health, meaningful connections, and showing up for one another.

We are grateful for the opportunity to hear their message and be reminded that checking in, starting conversations, and supporting those around us can make a lasting impact.

We are so excited to announce that we will be partnering again this year with Caroline for another It’s Cool To CARE. Week at WMS!!!

This year we will be selecting up to 25 Wendell Middle School GEAR UP students to lead the planning, organizing, and facilitating of our ICTC Week.

The application has been emailed to all 7th & 8th graders copies will be dropped off to the office by Thursday this week as well. The deadline to apply to be considered for the team is October 29th, but don’t wait until the last minute to work on it since there are several steps you have to complete to apply.

SUICIDE PREVENTION MONTH 💛

As September comes to a close, we keep coming back to one word: ACTION.

Because suicide prevention can’t simply be something we talk about for one month. It has to be something we LIVE.

This September, we watched our community live it.

We shared Jae’s Story with hundreds of seniors and put Jae Boots on their feet. We had bold conversations with students, educators, coaches, businesses, first responders, families, and friends.

We kicked off another year of Teen Outreach and middle school ICTC Outreach, bringing students from 10 schools together for connection and conversations around the Self Boot-Check.

We came together for BTHO Week. We honored first responders. We watched students step up, businesses prioritize mental health, communities rally, and Boot-Check moments happen everywhere.

Through it all, the message remained simple:

Check in on yourself. Check in on your people. Have the conversation. Ask the second question. Tell people they matter.

September may be Suicide Prevention Month, but our work doesn’t end when September does.

We’ll keep telling Jae’s Story.
 We’ll keep putting boots on feet.
 We’ll keep creating spaces where people belong.
 We’ll keep having bold conversations.
 We’ll keep checking in.

Because suicide prevention isn’t a month. It’s choosing to care every single day.

And around here, we believe…It’s Boot-Check Time! 🤠

One year ago, I had none of this.

No social media.
No platform.
No podcast.
No audience.
No content.

Just a feeling.

Just a dream.

I didn’t have a clue in the world about how I was gonna make it happen. I had no experience. I didn’t know the people or have the resources.

And now 1 year later I’m standing in front of an auditorium full of students doing something that I never thought I would get to do.

This picture is a reminder that you don’t need to have every “how” figured out.

It’s a picture that stands as a reminder that you don’t have to see the whole plan to take the first step.

This picture is a reminder that all you gotta do is just move.

It’s a reminder that at the beginning, a feeling and a little bit of courage, is all it takes to make your dreams come true.
