See you mga Halimaw!

When Mae first approached me to direct Dalaga Na Kami for Teatro Marco’s Queer Theater Festival, I was really hesitant. It had been around eight or nine years since I last directed for the stage (AND THAT WAS IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL), and it had also been more or less two years since I last directed a short film.

Over the last few years, as I ventured into and focused more on my writing (both for film and theater), I learned so much by observing and watching the people I had the honor of working with; their varying processes, different styles, techniques, and approaches, as well as the differences in their upbringing, culture, politics, and social consciousness.

I want to highlight a few people who made this very quick journey unforgettable.

Sa aming Klara at Kristian, @n1ku.o and @itscyrusbon, thank you for trusting me wholeheartedly. I am so proud of what we achieved in just three weeks. Imagine what we could have done if we had more time and resources.

It would have been easier to stay on the sidelines—to watch, to consume, to let others tell the stories. But creating has always felt like a choice: community over comfort.

My body of work is still growing. It would probably be larger by now if I had always been brave. But on the days that I am, I carry the stories of the queer community with me—the community that raised me, shaped me, and taught me what it means to be an artist.

It is already difficult to move through the world as a woman. To be a queer woman in the creative industries is another journey altogether—one marked by uncertainty, resilience, and the constant search for space. That is why Dalaga Na Kami exists.

More than a story about siblings, it is a story about the bonds that sustain us. It is about women, queer people, and the families we are born into as well as the communities we choose and build for ourselves. It is inspired by the kind of love I have witnessed among queer women in the drag scene—a love rooted in care, generosity, and belonging. This play is a love letter to those who continue to exist, create, and care for one another despite the odds.

I am deeply grateful to my VLF WFP 18 family, Sir Glenn Mas, Sir Dennis Marasigan (my OG crew in 2023), Teatro Marco for the space, SM Isha, our actors Cy and Alec, and Direk—and my forever partner—Ivan. Thank you for bringing out the best in this material and for being brave with me. 🌈

Dalaga Na Kami (Set A) of Teatro Marco’s Queer Theater Fest will run for one weekend only! Come see our show. ♥️

Limited tickets at https://paymongo.page/l/qtfest26!

Happy Pride, today and every day, mga mahal. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Like a finished fusion, this chapter is complete! Every shard of effort turned into something whole. 💎✨

I finally had the energy to post the tea sis (thesis) I built last December together with my team and my friends.

My creation came to life 🥹

It's not close to perfection. I'm well aware of the holes that weren't patched. But I survived and learned from it. Although I've already given my acknowledgements from my thesis paper, I want to thank everyone endlessly for helping me achieve this production. What started out as a concept came to life within 3 months. Being in the room where it happened was no joke but it felt fulfilling as the designer to see my ideas come to life.

To everyone who became part of this journey, thank you for helping me piece it all together. 🌟💖

Your designer,
Rosh Par

I’ve been trying to find the right words to encapsulate the past 4 months, and honestly, I don’t think I’ve found them yet. But all I know is I have nothing but so much pride and joy.

Never thought I’d step into a mentor/advisor role, but here we are. Wild how things really do move in mysterious ways. Balancing consultations with my full-time work was a lot, but TBH I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Super, super proud of all my students (past, present and future). This whole experience just reminded me that filmmaking isn’t just about telling stories in the most beautiful way. It's also about community, finding your people, and showing up for each other.

I am grateful and humbled. Can’t wait to see you all grow. Thank you for the opportunity of a lifetime. 🤍

(AKO BA YUNG NAG-THESIS?!)
