Saturday’s Culture Exchange film screening at @everymancinema in Stratford was a true celebration of creativity. We watched powerful films, followed by Q&A panels - young people spoke about their experiences and future aspirations.

Over popcorn and Coca-Cola, past and future partners, and guests from across the UK, including Northern Ireland, came together. Young people travelled from Bradford and Nottingham to reunite with their East London peers, excited to meet in person again.

This marked our second Culture Exchange project delivered in Nottingham and Bradford, building on the strong foundations of previous exchanges in Birmingham, Preston, and Sheffield. At the heart of the programme, youth were introduced to social enterprise and supported to develop their own micro social enterprises, shaped by their lived experiences.

Following the screening, we headed to our afterparty at Dovetail Community Centre, where everyone enjoyed great food, music by @itsdjny and a punching machine from @hardhitterzuk that quickly became a highlight of the evening!

Special thanks go to the incredible young people from Bradford @theleapbd , and Ahmed alongside Nottingham’s @drlisa1968 , Julie and the young people at CAST, it’s been an absolute privilege to work with you all!

Thank you to our incredible film-maker, Marlon Rouse Traverers, who captured the journey so brilliantly, to Jahvin Morgan for his incredible photography, and to everyone who took part and helped make this special event possible.

The 2023 and 2024 Culture Exchange projects were generously funded by @foundationforfuturelondon and @westfieldstratfordcity , whose support made all of this possible. @jandnwasteltd kindly sponsored Saturday’s film screening and afterparty. Thank you, guys!

This week at DJ class with DJNY, the young people took things up a level 🎧

They learnt how to properly use the decks, practiced controlling the jog wheels, and started confidently mixing tracks together.

From learning the basics to building real skills, it’s been amazing seeing their confidence grow each session.

Big love to @itsdjny for continuing to create a space where young people can learn, create and express themselves through music.
