The Bauhaus is often remembered through a familiar visual language: tubular steel, geometric forms, primary colours and buildings that have become icons of modern architecture. In Dessau, those ideas can still be experienced in the places where many of them were developed, tested and lived.

Across the Bauhaus Building, the Dessau-Törten Housing Estate, the experimental Steel House and the Masters’ Houses, a much broader picture begins to emerge. Architecture becomes connected to questions of housing and industrial production, while furniture, materials and interiors reveal how closely design was tied to everyday life.

Perhaps this is what makes Dessau particularly interesting today. Moving between these places shows the Bauhaus as more than a recognisable aesthetic. It was an attempt to rethink how people might live, work, learn and create within a rapidly changing society, questions that continue to shape conversations around architecture and design almost a century later.

We spent forty eight hours exploring these connections, from the campus and its exhibitions to experimental housing, the Masters’ Houses and the Bauhaus Museum Dessau.

Our Circularity Chair is now on display at the @adidasoriginals Flagship Store in Berlin.

Created by @anothachoppa together with @atelier_alessa, the one of one chair marks a meeting point between independent design and one of the most recognisable visual cultures in the world. Seeing an idea that began outside the traditional boundaries of furniture and fashion now take its place inside the Originals universe feels like a pretty special moment.

And if you’re in Berlin, there’s another reason to visit.
We’re giving away the full @adidasoriginals denim look featured in our campaign.

To enter, visit the store at Münzstraße 13–15, take a photo of the chair, share it to your Story or Feed and tag both @anothachoppa and @atelier_alessa.

You can enter until September 6.

For the first time, @anothachoppa exists beyond the screen.

Together with @atelier_alessa, we developed the Circularity Chair, turning discarded adidas denim and the existing structure of an armchair into an entirely new design object. We reshaped the chair from its original form and developed a new silhouette, while the denim was disassembled and reconstructed specifically around it.

@atelier_alessa played an essential role in bringing the project to life. Founder Jana Alessa Schroth, a fashion designer and master tailor, translated the concept into a precise pattern and construction, applying techniques and knowledge usually associated with clothing to an entirely different scale and object.

@adidasgermany supported the project from its earliest stages, providing denim that could no longer be sold or used for its original purpose and helping us bring the finished object into the context it was conceived for.

The Circularity Chair marks the beginning of a new chapter for @anothachoppa.

It is now on display at the Originals Flagship Store Berlin at Münzstraße 13–15, 10178 Berlin.

To celebrate the project, we are giving away the full @adidasoriginals denim look featured in these images. Visit the chair in store, share a photo and enter for a chance to win.

Some exhibitions stay with you long after you leave. This was one of them.

I recently visited Fujiko Nakaya’s Fog Sculpture in the Sculpture Garden of the @neuenationalgalerie in Berlin and was completely captivated by the experience. What appears at first as a simple cloud of mist quickly transforms the space around you. Architecture, nature, art and people dissolve into something fluid and constantly changing.

Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya is considered a pioneer of fog sculpture. Since the 1970s, she has used pure water vapor as her artistic medium, creating immersive installations that exist only for a moment before disappearing again. Her works invite us to slow down, observe and experience our surroundings in a different way.

For the @neuenationalgalerie, Nakaya created a site specific installation that fills the entire sculpture garden. At regular intervals, drifting fog moves through the trees and among the sculptures, creating an ever changing dialogue with Mies van der Rohe’s iconic architecture.

If you are in Berlin, I genuinely recommend making time for this. It is one of those rare artworks that cannot really be captured in photos or videos because the experience is the artwork.

On view at the Neue Nationalgalerie until 25 October 2026.

One month left to experience one of this year’s most significant exhibitions.

Constantin Brâncuși transformed sculpture by reducing form to its essence. His work continues to influence artists, architects and designers more than a century later, making this exhibition as relevant today as it was revolutionary then.

Bringing together more than 150 works, the exhibition includes some of Brâncuși’s most celebrated sculptures, among them „Bird in Space“, „The Kiss“, „Sleeping Muse“ and „Endless Column“. For the first time outside Paris, visitors can also experience a reconstruction of the artist’s legendary studio, offering a rare insight into how he conceived sculpture, space and light as one continuous composition.

On view at the @neuenationalgalerie until August 9, 2026, this is one of the last opportunities to experience the first comprehensive Brâncuși exhibition presented in Germany in more than 50 years.

If you’re planning a visit, the museum will extend its opening hours until 8 pm on August 7 and 8. In addition, special Brâncuși Date Night tickets are available from 6–8 pm on July 23 and 30, as well as on August 7, offering another opportunity to experience the exhibition in a different atmosphere.

A reconstruction of Constantin Brancusi’s atelier inside the @neuenationalgalerie opens up a perspective that goes beyond the traditional display of sculpture. As one part of the wider exhibition, this section focuses on the spatial and material conditions of his practice. Rather than presenting isolated works, it brings together tools, pedestals, and objects as part of a coherent environment. The atelier itself becomes central, offering insight into how Brancusi conceived of space, order, and the relationship between making and displaying.

What makes this particularly compelling is the role of the pedestals. They are not simply supports but integral elements of the work, carefully proportioned and positioned. Their forms, often resembling stools or low tables, reveal a subtle overlap between sculpture and everyday object. This quality gives them a surprising sense of familiarity and relevance, even today, despite the fact that they were conceived more than a hundred years ago.

Within this reconstructed atelier, the focus shifts toward questions of placement, balance, and spatial rhythm. The arrangement of objects creates a dialogue between mass and emptiness, guiding the viewer through the space. It suggests an understanding of exhibition design that feels remarkably current, where the boundaries between artwork, display, and environment begin to dissolve.
