Some moments bring everything full circle. This coronation was one of them. 🦅👑

Mykenzi & Malachi, I met you both during your freshman year, and watching you grow into the leaders you are today has been such a privilege. From serving on the Royal Court consecutively since your sophomore year to now standing as Miss and Mister NCCU—you’ve given me so much to be proud of. Beyond the crowns, I’m proud of the people you’ve become.

Helping bring your vision to life alongside your Chief of Staff and our SEAL team made this night even more meaningful. There’s something beautiful about seeing what began as an idea become a moment you’ll carry for the rest of your lives. Thank you for trusting me with it.

To every organization queen and king who showed up: I’m proud of you, too. You carry the pride of your organizations and represent this phenomenal university. Seeing so many of my students step into that responsibility with confidence reminded me why this work means so much to me.

And as a former Mister NCCU, standing alongside other kings was a reminder that we’re all part of a legacy bigger than our individual reigns. I’m grateful to have worn the crown and to now help pour into those carrying that legacy forward.

Mykenzi & Malachi, I hope you felt celebrated, supported, and loved. Y’all made me proud long before this night. This was just another beautiful reason. Since attending the Leadership Kings & Queens Conference this summer with Malachi and Kenzi, she has held me accountable by coining “Mr. J we carry the crown, you the advisor carry the culture” I’m so blessed to work with this special group.❤️🦅
