‘Own Your Moment’ Pt. 2.

You couldn’t make my story up 🥲 it continues to be a wild journey on this path of learning how to thrive when repeatedly faced with the ‘impossible’.

Life has never been straight forward for me. 10 years into this path and I’m still humbling to it’s medicine. I still falll down and get stuck for long periods of time, and I’m still learning how to find new ways to create and grow with each hurdle.

Sometimes I get into chronic states of feeling as though I’ve failed, or that I’m never doing enough. I compare my progress to those around me and I think… why can’t I get it right?

And then I remember; I’ve lived with blood cancer for a decade, I’m a single mother, I’ve held together a full time music career despite having such a brutal experience with the industry and having to do everything my own way…

In the words of Mariah ‘I’VE DONE ENOUGH’ 😅

Aaand I’m only just getting started.

Being part of creating ‘Own Your Moment’ for the @europeanathletics has given me this essential reminder of all that I’ve been through.

Life is not an equal playing field. Some of us have to start at -10 and move mountains just to reach ground level. When I hold myself equal to my peers in this industry I set myself up to fail. We all have different journeys, different battles, different destinies and different timings.

I think we can all relate to our own version of this song. And I can’t wait to perform it live on @bbc this Sunday at @birmingham2026 💪🏻💥

This year has been one of ‘unbecoming’ in order to become. Almost Every plan I made for 2026 fell through.

Every planned collaboration was cancelled or postponed.

My family went through a painful separation and relandscaping.

My artist project got put on hold.

But other things found me, instead.

At the start of the year I had the honour of co-writing and singing the official anthem for the 2026 @europeanathletics championships - a song that would become an essential medicine for me to navigate the deep challenges of the year ahead.

This song was written to capture the resilience and courage that the athletes must endure in order to pursue their dream and purpose.

In order to create it, I had to draw on everything I experienced during my turbulent journey with cancer, choosing life, choosing my artistry as a struggling uncredited singer, single motherhood.

All the times Ive been brought to my knees and had to keep getting back up and having faith in my path.

It’s not been easy applying this medicine this year, as so much I had worked towards these past ten years through impossibly chapters, seemed to slip through my fingers and fall away.

But as we approach the championships this week, and I prepare to perform this song for the event at @birmingham2026 - I’m reflecting on the bigger purpose that is moving behind the scenes, dismantling me and my little ideas of how it should be. And aligning me to a new path and a new way of service to something greater than myself.

‘Own Your Moment’ isn’t a song about the victory moment, but one about showing up to each moment , despite the challenges, fear of failure and the uncertainty of what is to come. It is about giving it all you’ve got, even though you can’t control the outcome.

Little did I know how much I’d need the message of this song this year. I really looking forward to performing this for the athletes next week. ✨
