Hispanic Heritage Month

As September comes to an end, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the Hispanic heritage represented within our brotherhood.

Swipe to hear from our brothers about what their heritage means to them and the traditions, cultures, and experiences that have shaped who they are today!

Tracing my heritage back to Spain and Venezuela has provided a sense of consistency and grounding in my life, especially as I have moved around and experienced different places and cultures. It is extremely important to me to stay rooted in my culture, understand where I come from, and carry those traditions with me. I also value being able to share my heritage with my family and pass down the history, traditions, and values that have shaped me.

I trace my heritage back to Mexico, which is an important part of who I am and how I understand my identity. Growing up surrounded by Mexican culture, especially through my family, has given me a strong connection to our traditions, food, language, and values. My heritage reminds me of where my family comes from and the experiences and sacrifices that shaped the generations before me. To me, being connected to my Mexican heritage means honoring my family’s history while also carrying those traditions and values with me into my own life. And I LOVE BEING LATINA!

I am mixed Puerto Rican; I trace my heritage to my family in the Northeast that I grew up with as a young child. From the Spanish conversations to stories of the island to eating Arroz con Gandules, my culture means a lot to me. My heritage means my family, whom I love dearly, and the folklore I’m able to connect to from Puerto Rico.

I trace my heritage back to Nayarit, Mexico, where both of my parents grew up in a small rural village. Their upbringing and experiences have shaped many of the values that were passed down to me. My heritage represents the importance of family, hard work and staying connected to where you come from. It is something I take pride in and carry with me as I continue to build my own path.
