We, the artist community at [BLOC] C, firmly stand with the Palestinian 🇵🇸 people in their fight against occupation.

War and its destruction is never desirable, and the loss of civilian life on any front is horrible, we cannot lose sight of our empathy.
We abhor violence, but we are also aware that it is most of the time necessary for decolonization to be violent, when the oppressed have tried peaceful means that keep only being met with more violence, and are left with no other option but to fight back, after enduring escalating atrocities and international war crimes on a daily basis, for decades.

The barbaric state apparatus continues to abuse its immense power to commit countless war crimes against innocent men, women, children, and the elderly - sheltering in camps, residential buildings, schools, and mosques. No space is safe and no civilians, medics, or journalists are shown any mercy. The current complete siege has even cut off access to water, food, electricity, and humanitarian aid to confined civilians trying to simply survive the heavy daily bombings.

We pray 🤲 for the safety of all Palestinians 🇵🇸 during these extremely difficult days, and hold out hope for international communities and powers to awaken their moral compass and stand with the oppressed.
There is no equality in this fight, when only one side (which happens to be one of the world's most advanced military powers) controls the borders, supplies and the propaganda narrative.

We need to unite now more than ever, and speak out against internationally backed occupation of Palestine. 🇵🇸

• Don't turn a blind eye, act now!

@scenenoise #ArtistSpotlight: Koast

In 2019, Paris-based Tunisian singer Amal released her debut EP B-Town Vol.1 under the name KOAST for the first time. She would then go on to break through various realms of musicality, often found in the porous spaces between scales, flows, and Maqam. Writing and composing her own music, the world of KOAST swings between the spoken, sung and felt.

While KOAST delivers the purified emotion of an Arabic Bayati scale, she sings in English. With that, she comfortably exists in three-dimensional temporality: Not entirely the past, not far from the future, and as momentary as the present.

“I’d have the same satisfaction listening to RnB by Monica or Aaliyah, as I’d have listening to Umm Kulthoum. It doesn't go separate ways in my head, it settles in the same place [in my ears]. In the process [of creating], everything I heard and everything I’ve listened to blends…”

SceneNoise contributor Majd Shidiac speaks to rising Tunisian rapper KOAST who’s breaking through with wholly unique sounds inspired by a journeyed lived experience.

@badiaa_bouhrizi

Every project in your life should push you forward to enlarge your knowledge, your skills, and your perspective…
This time we faced a new type of pressure which was putting me and @itskoast in a tough situation and we both lost and gained a lot of things during this project, but finally, we’re glad about the whole experience.
Thank you all. 🙏🏻❤️
