I was honoured to present at the @mantleconference in Newcastle last week.

True to form, I didn’t take a single photo, so here’s a shot of the tea towel that was gifted to delegates and presenters.

The conference was packed with the most passionate teacher librarians who, despite getting knocked over by successive waves, continue to fight for students’ rights to libraries and qualified library staff. A very inspiring bunch of people.

I never take this career for granted, and so often I’m reminded of how lucky I am to present to children and teachers, and work alongside creators I admire. I’ll treasure this tea towel, and it won’t go anywhere near the dishes.

Thanks @mantleconference for having me. It was the first time I’d been to Newcastle since I was two, and you made me feel very welcome. Hope to see you again soon.

Out of the library today for @mantleconference .

I’m fortunate to be part of the organising committee for this conference dedicated to professional learning for Teacher Librarians.

All the extra work we do is done outside of our regular TL’s jobs in our respective schools.

It was a truly wonderful day with some of the best authors, illustrators and reading and library advocates in the business.

Missed a photo opportunity with @jadey.draws , @petercarnavasauthor and Anna Burkey @australiareads but managed to snag some with our other fantastic presenters who left everyone inspired and motivated to take the learning back to our respective schools.

Reflecting tonight on an amazing @mantleconference. The team put together another wonderful day of creatives who inspire us with their talents. Thank you one and all. @joelmckerrowcreative your beautiful, powerful, heartfelt real words and imagery was truly a wonderful way to start the day (tho tissues were required😊) Back to back MANTLE for me…looking forward to the three-peat 😉😁📚

Today I attended The Mantle Conference 2026 in Newcastle - a conference for the advocacy of school libraries and teacher librarians! @mantleconference 📚
The keynote presentations were exceptional! The breakout sessions were amazing! I wanted to go to all of them! I met Matt Stanton (so humbled) @itsmattstantonhere, listened in awe to Peter Carnavas (so lucky to cross paths with him again 🐐😁) @petercarnavasauthor, witnessed an amazingly poetic introduction and session about poetry by Joel McKerrow @joelmckerrowcreative, met Binny Talib and Sarah Armstrong @saraharmstrongwriter for the first time and had the pleasure of meeting up with R.A.Spratt again @raspratt after last year’s PRC launch. Thank you all for signing my books, taking a picture with me, having a chat and for the wonderful books you write and illustrate for our students to enjoy. Thank you @mantleconference committee for a truly memorable day. My teaching heart is full. 📚💖📚 @mandas_tales 🙏🏻😁
