Marketing can make people look. The quality of the product gives them a reason to stay. 📈

An artist with stronger marketing may reach the audience first, even when someone else appears more talented. But attention and longevity are not the same thing.

A viral moment can make you blow up. If the music, image, or overall experience does not connect, that momentum may not last.

@itsms.icon breaks down why independent artists need to understand the different roles that product quality and marketing play:

📌 Marketing creates discovery.
📌Quality builds trust.
📌Consistency turns attention into a real audience.

You should not neglect the product while learning how to promote it, but you also cannot expect a great product to market itself.

Which side do you think independent artists struggle with more: creating a stronger product or getting people to discover it?

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: @itsms.icon

This week’s Artist of the Week is Ms. Icon, an independent artist from Maryland who is embracing her creativity, pushing boundaries, and stepping into her own as an artist. With a passion for self-expression and a determination to overcome the obstacles that come with being independent, Ms. Icon is building her career on her own terms.

Her debut EP, “SPIT IT OUT!”, is a powerful reflection of her journey. The project explores the mental barriers that can hold artists back — self-doubt, fear of rejection, worrying about how others perceive you, and waiting for the perfect moment. For Ms. Icon, those feelings delayed the beginning of her career until she finally decided to stop holding herself back and just spit it out. 🎤✨

For the rest of 2026, Ms. Icon is focused on pushing her creative boundaries and reinventing her sound. She’s determined to continue evolving, experimenting, and discovering new ways to express herself through her music.

And there’s more on the way! Ms. Icon is currently working on her next project, continuing to build on the foundation she’s created with her debut EP. 💚

Ms. Icon credits Green Tea Distribution with giving her more than just a way to release her music. As an independent artist, she knows how much responsibility comes with doing everything yourself. Through Green Tea, she’s found a team of real people who support her development and help her navigate her journey as an artist. A reminder that being independent doesn’t mean you have to do it all alone.

Show Ms. Icon some love in the comments 👇 and be sure to check out her debut EP, “SPIT IT OUT!”, and follow her journey to see what’s coming next. 🎧✨
