“If I seen further, it was by standing on the shoulders of giants” - Issac Newton✨

It can’t go unnoticed that a massive part of my career so far has involved being part of a nursing team. We spend up to 13 hours a day together 3-4 times a week, we deal with life and death on a daily occurrence side by side, we laugh and cry together, cope with extreme pressures, mentor one and other, help each other through our personal life issues and the list could truly go on🤯

Ask any nurse, of any experience, and they will whole heartedly agree that no matter what area you work in, it’s your team that makes or breaks your experience!

The qualities and skills I have learnt in my role as a nurse have contributed to my successes in my academic work. My time management, prioritising work load, critical thinking etc.

However, working in a profession where team work is critical has allowed me to be more open minded, have stamina, show integrity for what I believe in, be an advocate, be more understanding towards others and encourage differences in team members opinion.

All these qualities have set me up well to go from working in nursing teams, to working in research teams. If you step out and make the most of whatever life experiences and opportunities you are given, you will always build character and you can have your team to thank for that.

Thank you to my nursing team back home in Dundee who helped shape me✨❤️ (swipe for photos - photos not socially distanced were taken before covid-19 occurred)
