Went back to the old neighborhood to photograph the @travelandleisure party with @anthonyramosofficial at his spot, @millysongreene. Such a wonderful evening. I’ll be back for the chopped cheese egg rolls and one of the cocktails by @drinksat6..

Many thanks to @jacquigiff, Charlotte, @jisette7 and the T+L team for bringing me in for the festivities.

Still reveling in the warm vibes generated from every unique moment felt inside one of my favorite venues last night. Congrats to @rareformnyc and @buildingbeats for creating another memorable event (and selling every ticket)! Already looking forward to next year.

DAF9 went down at @brooklynbowl on Sunday, February 15, 2015. @richmedina joined us once again to co-headline w/ our buddy @mick. Rounding out the roster was @pudgemental, @djapplejac, @raichous, @tap10 and @djparler. The host for the evening was @jarobiwhite of A Tribe Called Quest who flexed on the entire venue w/ a Donuts sweater. (I believe he raffled it off of his back the same night.)

Back in 2007, the same year DAF was born, MICK put together an incredible mixtape called DILLAGENCE which was hosted by none other than @bustarhymes. It was a trove of unreleased beats (w/ features from the likes of Rah Digga, MOP, Cassidy, Papoose, Phonte, Raekwon and more) that Busta would absolutely set fire to. It never left our iPods.

He surprised us all by letting us know that he had put in a call and Busta would probably show. A mere 45 mins later, he and his people slid through the side door, he grabbed the mic and reflected on what it was like to work w/ Dilla. Easily one of the most memorable moments in DAF history.

Let's take it to 2011 real quick -- DAF5. The only DAF to ever take place in Manhattan at a soon-to-be legendary venue called Santos Party Haus. We somehow convinced them to let us have the entire venue (still don't know how we pulled that off) and we used every inch of that space.

This night was co-headlined in the main room by @djspinna (his first DAF of several) and @richmedina w/ an opening set by our guy @itsparle. @opmiler1, @ianwallaceproductions, @djchela and @djtaranyc held down the basement. The thought of hearing nothing but Dilla and Dilla-adjacent tunes on a Saturday night in a major NYC nightclub seemed insane at the time. But we pulled it off.

So many people popped in just to show love... @jarobiwhite, illajyanceyboy, @alishaheed, @darujones, @djscratch and @robertglasper to name a few. And the highlight of the night? Homemade donut cakes prepared w/ love by @almalacour.

DAF is more than just a tribute night. It's community. It's church. It's camaraderie. There's nothing quite like this.

Feast your eyes on a selection of shots from the official set of photos from DAF3 (2009). This went down at a venue called Public Assemby (fka Galapagos Art Space, the site of the very first DAF) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The headliners for that night were @geology365 and @waajeed. The hosts were @donwill and @vonpea of the almighty @tanyamorganmusic. Music also provided by @djbrainchild, @myles.henry.tipley, @itssuce, @djcenter and @itsparle. And as you can see, it was a sardine can. Also the only DAF where we screenprinted tees on the premises. All proceeds went to the Alliance for Lupus Research.

Big shouts to @meldcole for digging these up for us. Incredible time capsule here.

A little photo recap of my annual holiday party: #MICKsmas.

Such a fun night filled with love, great people, too many cocktails, and lots of dancing.

To all my friends who came out - I appreciate you!

(I’m sure I’ll throw another party for my bday in March - so we will definitely run this back.)

Shout out to my bro @itsparle for deejaying with me, and for the @ronleakey and the incredible @millysongreene for being the perfect venue.
