Resharing this one as a slides made post (with a more expanded fancast for a stage play adaptation of Weapons on Broadway). I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record at this point, but I feel that there’s not enough recognition for the horror genre on Broadway even if Paranormal Activity is getting all its well deserved acclaim (sorry, critics), and it’s a genre mostly the younger generation of audiences (teens/young adults beteeen 15 and 25) follow, and I definitely think that with the current show market on Broadway mostly targetting audiences around those ages, while horror can have flaws of its own onstage, the genre can find lots of ways to continue evolving the theater industry over time in successful manners. I think Weapons has big potential for the stage as a following of the “horror-to-Broadway trend” (as seen, once again, with Paranormal Activity), according to an article by The New York Post, as it could draw those young audiences more into the genre being performed live onstage. It could work with its chapter format (as seen in the film) with the characters going on and about through their own perspective with this creepy mystery surrounding them, making it a smooth 2 act play, and there’s a lot of silence and dreadful stillness to it as well, which could also be a major working factor. And i think the most fun yet chlling part that could make a huge surprise is what I’m thinking as the “dark Broadway magic” scenario, with a parasitic entity as an unseen force which later gets revealed and the 2:17 a.m. scene where the children run out of their homes in a trance in the popular “v” arm airplane-like shape pose (the child narrator could get to mention it at the very beginning of the play). Those scenes could use some clever lighting and sound design along with unsettling practical effects and illusion-driven stagecraft direction. And I don’t think Broadway has given a taste of dark magic in a long while, so this could be a huge surprise for young theatergoers if Weapons were to be adapted for the stage. #weapons #weaponsmovie #horror #broadway The fancast l planned out is full of original stars from the film (Julia Garner & former Becky
