• The Impossible? The Unexpected. •

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
-Nelson Mandela

2 and a half years ago, I graduated from High School during such an unfortunate time: the Covid-19 Pandemic. It was a time of world change and the need for adaptation to new norms. Regardless, I left with a plethora of achievements. Going into college, I had the slightest idea of what my experience would like like. However, it entailed things that I would have never imagined.. things that I deemed impossible for myself. During my time, I was a member of the D.M.R.S Honors College, the Honor Student Association, and the NAACP. I served as the finance director for the Jaguar Ambassadors, President of Pi Gamma Mu (International Academic Honor Society for the Social Sciences), and President of the Sociology Club. I also served as a GroupMe Ambassador for the Microsoft App on my university’s campus. While matriculating, I completed an internship with UREC BR receiving over 360 hours. Each semester, I completed over 17 credit hours. Aside from school, which has had much impact on my skills, I was employed as a shift manager working over 30 hours a week. In the end, I completed and defended my undergraduate honors thesis on “The Influence of Academic Engagement on College Student Success.” Taking on so much, I was determined to succeed anyway. It is safe to say that all my long, sleepless, and tearful nights have paid off. Although my time at Southern was short, it was also memorable, fulfilling, and unforgettable. I will be graduating in 3 days with full academic honors & a 3.9 GPA. I will be the first to walk, leading my fellow graduates into the commencement. My work has allowed me to leave with the highest honor, number 1 in the graduating class. From Valedictorian to Chief Student Marshal, it’s safe to say that I brag different. Southern, it’s been nice.. but I am signing out.. for now!
