First Canadian award nomination on my first Canadian film score!

Grateful to be nominated for a Canadian Screen Music Award for Best Original Song. The song’s called “Blood on Your Cardigan” for the film Locally Sourced.

Shoutout to @itszaarinb for having me on and trusting me with creative freedom. When Zaarin told me she wanted a punk-ish rock song to put a bow on her horror comedy, my first reaction was “whut” but then I remembered myself at 20 y/o, playing drums in a djent metal band and writing angsty headbangers.. mm the good ol days.

The film is about a politically correct vampire couple, so the lyrical themes were: vampires, anti-establishment, performative wokeness, salvation, turning to the dark side. So yes, very tender and heartfelt.

Honoured to be among top Canadian songwriters in this category. Thank you to the @screencomposers community!
