I’ve been reflecting on my relationship with books and paper, trying to understand what it is that keeps drawing me back. Is it their texture, the sensory experience of holding them, or their ability to tell a story through both image and form? As an artist, I have always been deeply connected to the tactile experience of materials. At the same time, I have long been fascinated by words, their meanings, the emotions they carry and the worlds they open. When combined with imagery, they create an entirely new narrative, one that speaks beyond either medium alone. Working on this piece felt especially precious, knowing it would travel to someone dear whose hands and heart can appreciate everything shaped by the human touch. “Iva” means willow in Serbian — a tree known for its softness and quiet strength. But for me, it first meant my daughter 🤍 This name carries both love and intention. It reminds me to create with care, to move slowly and to stay rooted… in what matters most. Lately, this is where I’ve been finding my roots. In clay, in rhythm, in silence.
