POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This is @ivanagattegno’s series of The Many Moods of Murruna Point which we saw in early September at the Harbour Exhibition @shop7_artspace and bought this week .
So glad we’d been on a walk near the wetlands and decided to have lunch at the wharf . I love the colours and abstract style of the paintings and enjoyed meeting Ivana at her studio . They look so good in this space .

I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon at Aragunnu with these three remarkable women, whose exhibition RED DIRT is currently on display at Mane & Tales Studio.

Listening to them talk about slipping into the landscape and making work in a matter of hours filled me with a very specific kind of envy. So I asked if I could join them one afternoon.

Managing not to break an ankle whilst following Narelle over ancient rock formations and making it back to base camp for my favourite spread summer foods was also an added bonus.

Their Exhibition RED DIRT is currently on display until April 17th. ✨️

RED DIRT is a quiet, creative response to a journey through North Western NSW.

A shared experience between three artists: Ivana Gattegno, Roz Bannon and Narelle Perroux.

What emerged is more than a travel record. It is a deeply personal translation of Country into light, line, texture and colour.

From the sculptural banks of the Baaka to the ancient, sovereign Stone Country of the Karulkiyalu, these works reflect moments of stillness, vastness and reverence.

We invite you to step gently out of the everyday and into the Red Dirt with us, to slow down, to look closely, and to feel what lingers.

This work was created on the traditional lands of the Barkandji, Malyangapa, Pantyikali and Ngiyampaa Wangaaypuwan peoples. The artists created in gratitude mindful of its enduring story and living culture.

Please join us for the opening on Sunday 8th March 4 pm - 6 pm.

It’s taken me more than a red-hot minute to wrangle my newsletter subscriptions into submission, but I’ve finally done it.

Be warned: it carries an M+ rating. I do not hold back on the swearing. There may be the occasional moan, as if I’m some modern-day Henry Lawson - minus the AA meetings, because I’m a hopeless drunk and far less poetic.

I’m sharing my draft with you, alongside the magnificent news of the upcoming RED DIRT exhibition.

There is far more to say about this extraordinary show - and I will - but for now, put it in your diary. Exhibition opens 8th March - 17th April.

You can subscribe to my punching broadcast via the ‘About’ page on the Mane & Tales website.

There are only so many dead wombats you can drive past before you have to say stop this. You can make a donation in the tin. Thanks @ivanagattegno for creating this wall art to remind us to slow down. #justslowdownpeople
