The road calls this season, and we’re back on tour this fall. Starting in New York at Pianos this Sunday Oct 25th, Xeno & Oaklander play a fundraising benefit concert for our dear friends @variousartistsnyc Various/Artists Gallery, hosted by Stereo Mandrax and Pianos @pianosnyc We’re great supporters of the gallery and we encourage you to go and see their current exhibition “Too Much Is Better than Too Little”. The benefit concert starts at 7pm at Pianos NYC and is stacked with great live acts. The line up: Xeno & Oaklander, MSHR, Victoria Keddie, Laura Ortman & sTo Len, Ivan Berko. Doors at 7pm. At @pianosnyc , 7pm doors, 158 Ludlow St, Manhattan! #stereomandrax #variousartistsbenefit #livemusicnyc #newyorklivemusic pianosnyc Xeno & Oaklander are a minimal electronics / synth pop duo (Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride of Martial Canterel) based in Brooklyn, New York. As artists, they have been deeply involved in the analog synth community since 2004 (the release of their debut Vigils LP on Xanten), and have helped promote and inspire the revival of synth wave in the US and throughout the world through their extensive touring and prolific output. They record their songs and film scores in their Brooklyn studio and are known for their commitment to recording on and performing on analogue synthesizers exclusively. MSHR is an art collective that collaboratively builds and explores sculptural electronic systems. Their performances and installations present cybernetic audiovisual environments as living compositions. MSHR was established in 2011 in Portland, Oregon. Their name is a modular acronym designed to hold varied ideas over time, pronounced as letters or as one who meshes. This show finds them fresh off a west coast tour, presenting the newest crystallization of their evolving series Negative Flower. Victoria Keddie is an artist working with the instability of communication across sound, video, installation, and performance. Her work focuses on how meaning fractures and reconstitutes through noise, gesture, and interference. Her research concerns phonetic dissonance, linguistic instability, and the gestural space around language.

For over a decade she co-directed E.S.P. TV, a nomadic television studio for broadcast-based performance. She is a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, where she teaches Listening Beyond Hearing and designed the program’s Spatial Sound Lab. She founded and directs the Spatial Sound Union, an international network connecting spatial sound studios, labs, and organizations, in collaboration with Harvestwork

Back in NYC this Friday with our first FIXED of the Fall to kick off our 22nd Anniversary. We’ve got a few loaded nights starting this weekend @goodroombk where I’ll be doing an all night back-to-back set with @james_axon_ I met James a few years ago, and our friendship is one that was definitely born from a love of music. We’re always exchanging music, ideas, and just a general love for a certain sense of club life. I’ve always felt like he has a very similar sensibility to me, and after talking about playing together for ages, we’re finally making it happen this Friday! Nightlife all star @alana_deejay makes her FIXED debut with an all night set in the Bad Room. You’ve definitely seen her working the door at Good Room, doing lights, DJing and more all around NYC. 2004. Flyer design by @mattvolumeone, with images stolen from a Flipper/Throbbing Gristle show flyer originally created by Raymond Pettibon (duh -- if you're going to steal at least steal from the best) for the first one, and I have no idea about the second one but it looks cool. Mostly a bunch of cool locals with Silver from Norway thrown in who were apparently quite popular there so it was a bit strange for them to be playing on the floor of Tommy's Tavern. @todd_patrick and I flyered the hell out of LIC for the first one and only charged $2 so it was fairly well attended if memory serves. We had the acoustic acts outside and the electric inside. I only vaguely remember either of these shows because I drank quite heavily at the time. I used to watch the sun come up from the bar at Tommy's Tavern with a drink in my hand and then stumble home, occasionally stopping to puke in a trash can on the way. Those were the days? I don't drink anymore by the way, thank god...
