On July 30, the Stony Island Arts Bank continued its work as a vessel for storytelling, sound, and Sonic Cradles, gathering writers, musicians, artists, and special guests for an intimate evening of listening and exchange across disciplines.

Co-presented by Jupiter Magazine, Rebuild, and Yunomi, Sonic Cradles Live at the Stony Island Arts Bank became a living embodiment of Jupiter’s Issue 006 and its accompanying NTS Radio collaboration. Beneath the vaulted ceiling, writers and musicians—Aaliyah Bilal with Angel Bat Dawid and D-Composed, Tarisai Ngangura with Immanuel Wilkins, Tembe Denton Hurst with Ivy Sole, and Briana Pickens with BSA Gold—offered recitations and performances of their commissioned narratives and scores.

Every note carried traces of the artworks that inspired their responses, pieces by Turiya Adkins, Armina Howada Mussa, Naudline Pierre, Rhea Dillon, and others, as a spell of deep listening across forms evoked a reservoir of enchantment.

Thank you to all the writers and artists, and to everyone who joined us for such a special moment. Gratitude to Tito’s Vodka for their generous support of the program.
