Some lovely analog BTS shots from the set of SEAGULL by @ddoommmmoorree
Available to watch now via @watch_alter and @britishfilminstitute BFI PLAYER.

Made during that strange summer of 2021 when we were all still wearing masks. This was a tough shoot for me, but I learned a lot. Honestly, it’s probably my most incomplete film, the only time I’ve made something purely as a proof of concept rather than a fully formed standalone idea.

That said, I think we nailed the vibe and atmosphere, and the performances from @max.harwood and @paul57cooper are excellent. It was a real pleasure collaborating with everyone on this bite-sized little vampire jam 🩸🖤 Truly a dream team ✨ Now (hopefully) on to the feature!

Shock twist: @tomdaley isn’t murdered, stays somewhat dressed, and doesn’t knit a thing. But remains both a delight and a national treasure 🧶⚔️

“Filming took place across a series of rugged locations on Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. The schedule was tight, and we had to make the limitations work for us — reducing location moves to save time, blocking scenes so multiple beats could play out in single shots, and embracing the weather and natural light to help shape the mood.

“One of the most impactful variables we anticipated ahead of shooting was the weather and its potential to slow things down. There was no room for maneuvering in the tight schedule. We agreed early on that we would inevitably embrace whatever conditions we encountered rather than try to control them.”

Ian Forbes explains how he worked with director Dean Puckett to bring British folk horror film The Severed Sun to life - read on our website.
