What would you do with all the beautiful colours? Spin, weave, felt, knit, crochet?
I'd love to hear your favourite go to wool fibre shop either here in Australia or if you are overseas. I'm heading down the rabbit hole of trying all sorts of beautiful fibre as I create new pieces.

First time weaving using fibre I’ve spun myself. (Just ignore the fact that I plied it the wrong way and had to change intended projects to save it) 💚 the warp is scrap mixed wool, but the weft is my spinning and is a lovely silk merino mix from @ixchelbunny.

Spring Sweater 🌸

Happy release day to the Spring Sweater by @knitsbyshru ! It was an absolute pleasure to test knit this gorgeous sweater ♥️ The pattern is now available on Ravelry with a release weekend discount code - check it out!

This was a very naughty experiment by me to use a discontinued yarn by a mill that no longer exists but I am very pleased with the end results and did spend the start of Aussie spring living in this sweater!

🧶 Main colour: English Leicester Lambswool by Little Wood mill
🧶 Contrast Colour: Handspun Romanov, Mulberry Silk, Angora blend by @ixchelbunny in the colourway Springtime (a happy coincidence!)

This is the first sweater I ever had to scour - the English Leicester held on to a good amount of lanolin and I bought it possibly third or fourth hand. This did mean it grew a bit more than I would’ve liked but it’s still such a cozy fit! All my notes are on my Ravelry page (link in bio).

I really love the heathered natural colour of the main colour against the contrast of my handspun. If you were looking for a sign to use your imperfect handspun, here it is!

Happy spring and happy release day to Shru! This is a new treasure in my forever wardrobe 🌼

Setting myself a goal to spin and knit myself a cowl. It will probably take me until next Winter as I add it to the project bundle but I read somewhere that it's actually quite a good thing to have multiple projects going at once... I'm sure many of you other crafters would agree? Yes? If you come across any great cowl patterns (basic knitter here), inspire me❤️ Gorgeous roving from @ixchelbunny

That’s a wrap on spinning for Tour de Fleece 2026. I’m happy I was able to achieve my goal of spinning every day (minus Bendigo Sheep show day). I thoroughly enjoyed spinning fibre dyed from Australian indi dyers most of who are super local to me. Looking forward to choosing patterns for this yarn and spending even more time with this fibre. #teamcatandsparrowtdf26

Sometimes the thing that needs doing is a mental block away 🤦🤷.
I was gifted this lovely, absolutely gorgeous soft blend from @ixchelbunny way back when @fibreshare was a thing. But i always kept petting it and keeping it away, always feeling I would not be able to spin it "well enough".
Well, this time for #tourdefleece2026 I decided that making myself spin with it would be my 2nd week challenge.
I sure started it on the 19th, the official challenge day, but completed it only today 😅🤣.

And you know what? It wasn't tough at all! Slippery sure, but not at all as difficult uli made in my mind.
.
Stay blessed y'all! And happy spinning !

I just received the most amazing package from @ixchelbunny and @lairofthebeardeddragon today.
I wait, with cash in hand, for my yearly splurge on Charly's fibre at the Coburg Yarn Market, so when I heard that because of an illness in the family she wouldn't make it this year, I decided to splurge now!
Beautiful Mithril Merino in Silmarillian and a Turkish Spindle in the medium size. Pretty things inside, indeed!
There are so many lovely things in the Ixchel shop right now. If you can, go and support them and pick yourself something special.

✨ WIP Wednesday ✨

I'm working on a handspun Travellers Shawl by Andrea Mowry using Cormo Top in "Sands of Time" from @naturalfibrearts and Dreamee WA Fibre in "Fine Natural Dark" from @bilby.yarns in a combo spin.

Excited to wear this piece for my upcoming trip to #spendigo this year with @pepper.knits 🤗

Spindle is from @ixchelbunny @lairofthebeardeddragon

Sometimes you come across a new fibre stockist and find a gem. Gosh I would love the time to create a body of work using this roving. Thank you @ixchelbunny for this stunning roving. I can only imagine how soft this would be spun and knitted into a jumper, vest or scarf. I'll put that on my list of things to do...one day❤️

This Phang and bowl from @lairofthebeardeddragon were my very first support spindle and bowl. When I decided that I wanted to learn, I couldn’t find any shops with support spindles in stock. I reached out to Charlie from @ixchelbunny and she helped me get a custom, beautiful set. I also have one of their Tibetans. I love both of these. I use the bowl with every spindle and I use the Phang constantly. I learned supported spinning on these. Charlie also has fiber and, if shipping were less expensive, I would be in trouble because I love the gothic tops.

I am loving spinning this beautiful blend from @ixchelbunny on my Canadian Production Wheel (CPW). This is a blend of superfine merino, angora, cashmere, silk and rose fibres. What a beautiful blend to spin!!
