Recovery meets terrain - @rigfootwear Japanese brand rig footwear approaches performance footwear through the lens of recovery. Built on years of research into shock absorption and fatigue reduction, the brand combines cushioned support with functional outdoor design. The result is a range that sits between recovery and performance, prioritising comfort, stability and protection across varied terrain. We explored three models. The Mwamba takes an approach-focused design, pairing waterproof eVent fabric with a Vibram climbing sole and MegaGrip compound for confidence on rocky and uneven surfaces, while the removable recovery insole allows it to transition into a recovery shoe on the way back. The Tembea is rig’s first active line hiking shoe, developed over four years to balance cushioning and stability, with a shock-absorbing heel, stable forefoot platform, waterproof eVent construction and a lightweight Vibram MegaGrip outsole for dependable traction on trail.
