One year ago, I decided to start a social club in GA after struggling to meet girls in the area. I handled the event planning, networking, budgeting, and marketing, all while trying to pour into the friendships and community that were forming along the way. One year later, we’ve grown from 0 to 500+ girls in the chat, thrown 50+ events, created 10+ sub chats for moms, started a thriving Bible study, book club, and many more, collaborated with many local businesses in the surrounding areas, and were even recognized in The Citizen Magazine.🤍

But better than any number or accomplishment, I’ve gotten to sit back and watch girls find their forever friends.🥹

We’ve celebrated babies, engagements, weddings, new jobs, home buying, and so many other exciting seasons of life together. I’ve seen girls come and go, but being able to watch friendships form and see girls find their best friends has been one of the most special parts of this entire journey.🥲

I’m so incredibly proud of what I’ve built. It’s such a gift to create community and bring people together, but Planted has also been a blessing in disguise for me. 🩷

To the friends I’ve made because of @plantedgirlsclub thank you. Thank you for challenging me, loving me through every season, celebrating the wins with me, and giving me some of the most unbelievable memories over the last year. I will love and cherish these friendships forever. 😭

And to my Planted girls, thank you for trusting me to create a space where you can come as you are, meet new people, and hopefully find friendships that last a lifetime. It has truly been an honor to meet and connect with so many of you beautiful women. 💐

I can’t wait to keep creating, keep bringing the girls together, and see where this little idea that started one year ago takes us next. Here’s to year two of Planted Girls Club!! 🥹🩷🌱

“Making a micro budget film isn’t the flex you think it is” Have you ever heard that before? Some people hear “micro budget” and picture a crappy movie that cut corners and paid their cast and crew in “exposure”. Not the case with The Living Tree. We used every creative trick we could come up with to make sure the audience was constantly asking themselves “how the heck did they pull that off for less than 100k?” Follow our journey so you can put some of those same tricks in your back pocket. #thelivingtree #easthollywoodpictures #indiefilm #scifi #horror

Sometimes the best filming locations are the ones right under your nose. Who knew with a little research, some good coloring, and a little filmmaking magic you can “travel” pretty much wherever you want. #thelivingtree #easthollywoodpictures #indiefilm #scifi #horror

A lot of people think movie magic comes from writing the script, other people think it’s from the edit. Neither are wrong, but there’s something electric from redirections on set. When you are in character, living their life, thinking their thoughts, you are moved towards decisions you would’ve never thought to put in the final draft of your script. And when you work with a talented crew like I did, it’s easy to get inspired. #thelivingtree #easthollywoodpictures #indiefilm #scifi #horror

It’s exciting to travel all around the world, shooting content for your film, but sometimes it can be even more exciting when you find people to rally around you and help your dreams come true. This industry is such a small world and you never really know who is willing and available to help until you ask. My advice to fellow filmmakers is that it’s okay to step out of the box and who knows it might end up better than imagined. #thelivingtree #easthollywoodpictures #indiefilm #scifi #horror

While developing The Living Tree, I knew one thing: I wanted to write around a real treehouse—not build one on a soundstage.

I searched more than 7,500 treehouses around the world, from Airbnb and Vrbo to remote eco-resorts across Asia and South and Central America. Early in prep we even planned on shooting a few key moments in Costa Rica before deciding to keep looking.

Then one of our producers, Taylor Morgan, convinced me to visit one listing I’d overlooked (because the photos were terrible).

It turned out to be an incredible glass-and-steel treehouse… just 10 minutes from my apartment in Atlanta.

I still wasn’t convinced, so I took a solo camping trip for my birthday to clear my head. Sitting on the side of Yonah Mountain that night, I realized this was the place—we just needed to transform it.

With a lot of hard work, production design, and an amazing team, we turned that overlooked treehouse into the world of The Living Tree. Sometimes the perfect location isn’t across the world—it’s right in your own backyard. #thelivingtree #easthollywoodpictures #indiefilm #scifi #horror

Who in Florida is down to see my movie, The Living Tree, with me, IN THE very theater I worked at 15 years ago? We kick off the events on Friday September 11th with a red carpet, pictures, merch table, yadda yadda. Then movie, short Q&A, finished with a wrap party nearby.

The movie is also playing again the following Wednesday and Thursday evening. Make sure to get your tickets, you don’t want to miss out.
