POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The crew behind our film was entirely women. 🎬

Isabel Morales-Detková behind the main camera and lighting, Kateřina Cecilová on camera, Rebeka Jurčacková working on the film’s art direction, Saša Gundová helping with sound and basically anything else that needed to be done, several more brilliant women behind the scenes — and me directing and interviewing.

We filmed academics, writers, police officers, entrepreneurs, artists and people who arrived in Britain in completely different periods — from 1968 to the post-EU generation.

In the film, the interviews may look calm, but behind the camera there was always plenty happening — lights, sound, camera setups, notes and last-minute changes. And our all-female crew handled it all with confidence. 😁

Štáb za týmto filmom tvorili samé ženy. 🎬

A náš ženský štáb to všetko zvládal s prehľadom. 😄

🎬 Another sneak peek from filming our documentary Portraits of Slovak and Czech Britain.

This time, we had the privilege of filming Erik Lorincz—one of the world’s leading bartenders, internationally renowned mixologist, entrepreneur, and owner of Kwānt Mayfair in the heart of London. 🥃

Fresh from being recognised among the Bar World 100—the industry’s most influential figures—and celebrating Kwānt Mayfair’s place among Europe’s 50 Best Bars, Erik’s story is about far more than world-class cocktails. 🍸✨

It is a story of resilience, entrepreneurship, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Combining a strong Slovak work ethic with the precision and philosophy of Japanese hospitality, Erik has created a unique space where cultures, craftsmanship, and innovation come together.

We’re honoured to feature his inspiring journey in our documentary, celebrating the remarkable achievements of Slovaks and Czechs living in the UK.

Stay tuned—there’s much more to come. 🎥🇸🇰🇨🇿🇬🇧

🇸🇰🇬🇧 Slovak hearts born in the UK. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

This weekend, we had the joy of filming Sovička, a Slovak children’s folk dance group in London, for our documentary film Portraits of Slovak and Czech Britain. 🎬

Born and raised in the UK, fluent in Slovak and full of love for their heritage, these young performers keep Slovak traditions alive through folk dance, songs, costumes and community. 💙❤️

From the age of 4 to 20, they regularly perform at festivals in Slovakia and across the UK — and some have been part of Sovička since the group was founded 12 years ago!

We are excited to show the richness of Slovak culture in Britain and explore what it means to be Slovak and/or Czech in a multicultural society. 🌍✨

A big thank you to the wonderful group coaches Inga and Sisa for keeping these traditions alive with such care and dedication. 🙏

Film produced and directed by Simona Vrabcova and Rebeka Jurcackova from @slovaktheatrelondon

The marketing campaign for Lisa Jewell’s Don’t Let Him In was shortlisted for Marketing Strategy of the Year at the 2026 British Book Awards @thebritishbookawards .

Partnering with Ania Gordon and the team at Cornerstone (@centurybooksuk), we produced nine distinct video edits. Each was designed around the novel’s tone, characters and target audience.

This resulted in pre-sales doubling and helped @lisajewelluk achieve her first number one in all formats in her 23-book career.

Thank you to @aniagordon and the wider Cornerstone team for trusting us with the campaign.

POV: A magical Paddington apartment, home to a creative soul for nearly half a century, becomes a film set for a day. ✨🎬🏡

Shooting with Zuzana Slobodová was pure magic, books, stories, memories, warm tea energy, and a little bit of movie-star patience. 📚☕️⭐️

Her home is one of those places where every corner feels like it could tell a story. And in many ways, that is exactly how this whole project began. Zuzana’s book inspired Portraits of Slovak and Czech Britain, so filming with her at home felt like bringing the story full circle. 💛

She was warm, welcoming, wonderfully patient, and a brilliant actress for the day. Honestly, 10/10 would cast again. 🎭✨

The documentary is coming together, and we cannot wait to share more soon. 🎥🌍
