CONNECTION: Through wood and string, CONNECTIONS uses a simple craft to express how the Gray Design Building and the UK College of Design foster an atmosphere that allows students to collaborate and express themselves freely. As first-year students, we worked the past semester playing with light and color to manipulate a space and the emotions created within. Our focus on secondary and tertiary colors in the form of string creates an airy atmosphere that embodies our past color stud-ies. This idea of connection plays back into our first studio activity of creating a woven “quilt” with every person in our tribe. Following our development in the past year, we created a heightened version of this with a string connecting all of us individuals.

Last project of our first year!!

“Something Big” was SO FUN!! The whole Tribe worked together to create an art installation outside of Gray. Using rope and string, we emphasized both the importance of connection in interiors and how the College of Design connects us all in unique ways. This was such a fun year and I am so thankful for all of the people along the way 🫶🏼
