Izzy Sause was just 19 when her two year #aya melanoma battle ended on August 30th. A nursing student and powerhouse forward on @gcsusoccer team, Izzy fought until the end. Although a dozen years separated their battles, Izzy faced some of the same roadblocks to treatment as Claire due to her young age. Problems that should not still be there. Despite it all, Izzy believed every day should be celebrated, touching and inspiring those who knew her. Her story will capture your heart! A really fun thing for parents to experience with their kids is to have the kids play with and/or against the children of the parent’s own childhood, teammates or competitors.

With our daughters playing on year-round, club travel, soccer teams throughout the southeast, region (GA, FL, SC, NC, AL, TN, soccer teams), Chris & I would often have the daughters of my own childhood, club soccer, teammates and/or his HS, classmates playing against our daughters’, soccer teams.

One of my own long-time, childhood club travel, soccer teammates, from elementary school- HS graduation, reached out to me to show that her own daughter, a rival FL, club soccer player against Izzy’s, club team for many years and a current, sophomore player on the UF @gatorssoccer women’s soccer team, played in honor of Izzy during tonight’s, Kick For A Cure, match against LSU. 👏🏼 on the win, Gators! 🐊⚽️

Soccer is called “The Beautiful Game” and brings love throughout the world. No one fights alone. @izzysause @chrissause #childhoodcancerawareness #melanomaawareness #kickforacure

Iz was the funniest, person (and she’d tell every one often). Izzy sought out the joy and laughs every day, no matter what, so here’s a video that Izzy made with Sav & Acca.

We don’t laugh because we’re happy. We are happy because we laugh.

Laugh through the happiness, laugh through the grief, laugh because it makes you feel love. @izzysause @savannahsause_ @accaberube

“A sister is the dearest friend, a closest enemy, and an angel at the time of need”.

While I never need an excuse to show or talk about our daughters, today’s, National Daughter’s Day is the perfect reason today to show them.

We love you, Sav & Izzy!

Oh my sweet Izzy. This has been the hardest couple of weeks trying to figure out a world that doesn’t have you in it. When I first met you at an Atlanta United tailgate, my first thought was, woah this girl has a lot of energy. But then when I introduced myself you just gave me the biggest smile and hug and welcomed me, a complete stranger, into your bubble. And thank freaking god because you became one of my favorite humans in the entire world. I so loved coming to watch you play at your soccer games and have weekend sleepovers at Camp Sause. You were always so fun to be around and always making us laugh. I am so grateful to have gotten to know you. You welcomed me and my family into your world with that vibrating energy that matched Wally’s to a T! 🤪 It’s gonna hurt for a while to know you aren’t going to be around and pop out to give me a surprise hug. But as your family and friends have all said, I am going to Live Like Izzy. I’m going to be unapologetically myself. I’m going to live and love like you did sweet girl. And I will know that you will always be around, showing off in unexpected ways. I love you so much and have comfort that you are finally at peace. 💕 ✨ #LiveLikeIzzy

Isabella “Izzy” Grace Sause, 19, passed away on August 30, 2026, from a 2+, year-long, battle with melanoma, cancer.

Izzy was a student at Georgia College & State University and was pursuing nursing school. As Izzy battled #AYA cancer, she wanted to make a difference in other children’s lives as a nurse to them after having so many great health professionals care for her.
Izzy was an avid soccer player and music enthusiast. She played soccer from 4 years old and was a current player on the Georgia College and State University women’s soccer team along side her sister and all the teammates she loved. Izzy played club soccer at the ENCL and ECNL RL level at Gwinnett Soccer Association and Atlanta Fire United. She was also a 4-starter on the Loganville High School team.

Izzy loved to travel. The beach was her happy place. Whether it be to Orange Beach with her family or Hilton Head with her boyfriend, it was THE getaway for her. It was something about the wind and the sand for her that took her to another place.

Izzy was always the life of the party. She was friends with all different kinds of people and everyone’s best friend. She was always the glue that could put different people in the room, and everyone would suddenly get along. All it took was her smile and laugh and it was so intoxicating no one could think of anything else.

Izzy is survived by her parents, Chris and Mandi Sause, her sister, Savannah Sause, and the many family members, friends and teammates whose lives will forever be changed by knowing her. Izzy’s candle burned out long before her legend will.

*** Izzy’s, memorial service honoring her life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Graystone Church in Grayson, GA. The family will receive friends for visitation from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with the memorial service beginning at 5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to support Izzy at this time, please contribute to the Claire Marie Foundation. https://clairemariefoundation.org/make-a-donation/ to help cure adolescent and young adult melanoma. The Sause family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers & support. Izzy’s light will always shine & never dim.

Iz- you are the sweetest of the sunflowers, you’re the sun to me.

You’ve always been the sun, as everyone revolved around you- You.

You loved dancing and would often grab the closest person to you to slow dance and ask them to dip you. You loved life and loved to share your excitement and happiness with others.

When Chris and I would hug, she’d squeeze herself between us. We’d keep her enveloped between us and hug her and say “Two ones”.

Izzy- I can’t wait until I can have another dance with you. @izzysause @chrissause
