Did I mention that I really love stupid puns and wordplay in general?!😅🤷‍♂️😁

And be honest: how many times have you tried a soda, lemonade, or whatever and you thought to yourself: „what where they thinking?!“, or „do they still have their taste buds, for crying out loud?!“😂 so not all drinks suck, but this one really does!😂
.
Tbh the lettering sucks as well 😅🙈 because it’s trying #blackletter in @procreate and I really suck at it… on paper, with a parallel pen, I’m a bit better, but I never really got the hang of it digitally, but it serves its purpose, it’s somewhat readable and I kinda like it… and there should always be room for improvement, at least that’s what the smart people say…🤷‍♂️😂
.
I know this should have come out yesterday, but yesterday sucked as well and it sucked HARD! I haven’t felt so down in a looong time and it was pure pain to get up an through the day… but that’s part of the „getting cancer out of your system“-deal, I guess…🤷‍♂️ I hope it will be better soon tho!🫠

Oh boy, I really wanted to make more art, but it’s just… too much… I think all the stress and shit I just „put aside“ over the last 6 months, in order to power through this whole cancer fuckfest, I all crashing down on me, after my (hopefully) last chemotherapy. Plus the anxiety because I still have to wait for over a month until the last tests are made to determine if any of the little fuckfaces are still inside me… 😵
.
But hey, I’m still alive and kicking… even though it’s little baby kicks 😅 but I’m not giving up and this whole thing will pass and I will still be here! 💪😊
.
And that’s why I will extend this challenge way beyond its initial run, because I’m inspired by it and it helps me to cope with this whole shituation! 😎 thank you @aureliemaron and Celine!❤️🙏

Oh boy… I really went waaaay too deep into this from the start and made everything uber detailed… but I’m sticking with it 💪 and I think, it will be worth it in the end!🙏😅

Let’s be honest… we all know a friend who LOOOOVES his (or hers) ramen noodles and also loves to let the whole world hear about it!😅🙈😂

And as a misophonic myself… it’s the HORROR!!!😱😭😵☠️😂

So this piece for the @letteringstylechallenge is my ways to cope with the „pain“ and the #wackypackages homage is the best way for that (at least for me!😅😂)

„Done is better than perfect“ they say… yeah fuck 'em!😂🙈

I know this could have been so much better… at least is was in my head… but I just wanted to be done and 🤷‍♂️
.
So this is another piece for the @letteringstylechallenge done in @procreate with brushes by me, to pay homage to the awesome „Wacky Packages“ stickers by @topps
.
I really don’t know what else to say… tbh I’m a bit bummed out… this chemotherapy stuff is harder on my system than I like to admit TO myself… my concentration is down, I’m tired and just exhausted as fuck, but my mind is racing and it’s driving me crazy 'cause I wand to do more, in fact I HAVE to do more (chores, office stuff and shit) and I can only do the bare minimum… it sucks!😟
.
But this too shall pass - at least I hope so… so let’s keep going and we’ll see, how it all comes together in the end! 🤷‍♂️

The only one who can „push“ me out of „retirement“ and my comfort zone is @aureliemaron and her @letteringstylechallenge 😅🤷‍♂️😁

And this year, I wanna have some FUN! 😈

Idk if you remember the „Wacky Packages“ stickers by @topps from „the good old days“, but I do and they had a very big impact on me growing up, because the were subversive, icky and a whole lot of fun!
.
This is my homage to them! 😊
.
I particularly loved their style, made (in)famous by the late great Norm Saunders. What a legend! (I’ll go into more detail about then in future posts but for now I’m leaving it at that. So stay tuned!😉)
.

Mein Herz hüpft auch 2 Wochen später noch wie wild in die Höhe, wenn ich an diese wundervollen Tage in München zurückdenke! ✨

Was war das bitte wieder für eine unglaubliche Magie?!
Die Lettering Days haben mich auch in diesem Jahr wieder komplett verzaubert und ich fliege jetzt noch mit den Sternschnuppen um die Wette, wenn ich nur daran denke! 💫

DANKE - dass ich das wieder alles mitorganisieren, mitgestalten, miterleben, mitfeiern und ganz tief fühlen durfte. 🤍

DANKE - an die weltbeste Kreativcommunity, welche mit großem Herzen uns die Treue hält, aber auch unaufhörlich so wundervoll weiter wächst! 💛

Ok, BUT…

… where’s the lettering, Joe - WHERE IS IT?!

Chhihihihiilll, bruh or bruhdette!😂
.
Technically there IS!!!111 a lettering here and it’s a damn fine one! But it’s not by me!
.
It’s by the visionary, creative mastermind, „Schnörkel-Papst“ („Flourish Pope“) and beautiful soul @robertbree.de 😍🥳👏👏👏 who invented the @letteringdaysmunich in the first place, as a „real life“ meet-up and creative event to finally meet all your lettering buddies, that you only knew from Instagram, in the real world. (Which happened for the SEVENTH time this year! (Ok, each year separately, starting in 2019 - we did not do 7 events in 2025!!! Once is enough! It’s beautiful and magical, but ONCE a year is enough! 😅🙈😂)
.
Aaanywho, back to the poster!^^
.
And yeah, what can I say… stickers are for plebs! 😑 postcards… pff… are people actually still able to write?! And I generally don’t bother with trinkets‘n‘shit!
.
So I made a poster! 🤷‍♂️😂
.
I did this partially in @procreate and @photoshop back in 2022 as „my gift“ for the community / goodie bag. (It’s almost mandatory to bring so kind of „gift“ to those events, be it stickers, postcards, etc. to share and collect and to basically say: „HaY lOoK, tHiS iS mE aNd wHaT i‘M dOiNg!!!111“😅😂 and it’s wonderful! I love it!🥰)
.
Looking back, I‘m not „embarrassed“ by it, but it think… hope… PRAY❗️😩 that I evolved a little over the following years and got at least a little better!🙈😅
.
And don’t get me wrong, I still love this poster and am still proud of it, but we (as artists) all know this feeling of never being fully satisfied with our work, right?! Especially looking back at old works and I think that’s totally ok and if it helps us to strive to get better at something, it’s actually good! But it all has to be balanced! 🧘‍♂️
.
How do you feel about your past works, do you embrace those „monstrosities“, or are you the „flip-the-lighter-behind-you-walking-away-from-the-explosion-without-looking-back“-kinda person?! 😉

Where we’re going, we don’t need…

As you may know, I’m a kid of the 80s (and 90s^^) and it’s still my favorite decade in regards of pop culture - and therefore an inspiration or influence in nearly everything I do.
.
I just love that „neon chrome“, the grid, the flashy colors… 🤩😍👌
.
And as I was toying with the idea of creating some „80s-style merch“ for the @letteringdaysmunich I saw that @domestika had a new course on lettering by non other than @indieground 😱😍
.
So, the puzzle pieces all fell in the right place, I took the course - yes, I like to broaden my visual library by watching lots and lots of courses and tutorials… maybe too much… 😳🤔🙈😅 - aaaaanywho… I ended up creating this „vintage style limited edition“ poster!😊 what do you think?
.
Done in @photoshop and #adobeilustrator with textures by @texturelabs and me.
