@heartlandwatchshow was a huge success, and I’m riding the high with my @sericawatches 5303 on @rsmwatchstrap X Hatch Single Pass. What a pleasure to get to work with these two amazing brands and share them with enthusiasts here in the midwest. Getting excited for @heartlandwatchshow this Saturday. Wearing my @drydenwatchco Chrono Diver Gen 2. Looks like we’re going to have a great turnout for the show and hope to see you there! And of course I really can’t post a Dryden without including some bird shots. My dear friend Jerry, who owns Dryden, is the one who got me into nature photography. Swipe to see some Hummingbird shots. This is the time of year we see a lot of them here in Kansas before they migrate south. I spent almost an hour watching this one at my local park. She would perch in a tree and feed from this same patch of flowers. It was hard to catch her in between all of the grasses, etc. But I managed to get a few. NWA! So excited to have this charming Enicar Sherpa Guide circa 1960 in the collection and grateful to @captain_t_53 for making it happen. This watch has been on my radar for a long time, but I’d never seen one in person. Once it arrived, I knew it was one I’d love to own. Without expectation, I asked Cap to keep an eye out for me if he saw any good ones come up for sale. He surprised me and said he might be willing to let it go. After a flurry of DMs, we worked out a deal. So my SMP 2531.80 is now in New York, and the Sherpa Guide is with me in Kansas. I’m really thrilled with this addition. I love vintage watches, but prefer to buy them from friends I know and trust. The old adage of “buy the seller” has proven very true in my experience. I also prefer to see vintage watches and try them on before buying, which isn’t always easy. All this adds up to a slow buying process for me with vintage. Have I wanted one of these for a long time? Yes. Could I have made it happen sooner? Maybe. Am I happy with how this turned out? Absolutely. I have the watch paired with a @drydenwatchco Tapered Suede Leather strap. That’s right, keep in mind that Dryden also has a great selection of straps. Pretty nice to be able to ask my buddy Jerry (owner of Dryden) to bring a few straps to our morning birding session. Also, I had to include some bird content because @talkingabouttime has been pestering me about it. He sends me weird DMs at 3 am asking to see Yellow Rumped Warblers and Dickcissels. Beyond the show floor, one of my favorite parts of traveling for work is getting to explore the outdoors in different cities and catch up with good friends. These past two back-to-back weekends in Chicago and LA were no exception! Between hanging out at Windup Chicago and catching up with everyone in Long Beach for Intersect LA, this run of shows was a blast. Huge thanks to everyone who stopped by the table to talk watches, try something on, or take a new piece home, and to all the brand owners turned friends who make these trips feel less like work and more like a family reunion. We wrapped up our time in Chicago with sunset drinks on the roof, then headed west to LA the following weekend. I was out at Point Vicente with Jake (@j.witkin), Chad (@ckstime), and Brandon (@brandon_bxtr) that Friday morning, which was the perfect way to start off my birthday weekend. Big thanks to Andrew from @astorandbanks for surprising me with a birthday cake at the show, and to everyone who came out after and sang happy birthday at the restaurant. You all made it a weekend to remember! We’re now back in the home office, fully caught up on shipping, and preparing for the @heartlandwatchshow, which we’ll be hosting right here in KC. What a weekend at @intersectwatchshow in Long Beach, California. It’s such a privilege to be part of the @sericawatches team as a show representative and share my passion for the brand with other enthusiasts. And it’s a pleasure to work alongside my friend and teammate @brandon_bxtr We have a blast, and he’s so knowledgeable about the brand and each model.
