Weekend  race review.
This is a bit of a strange review and long post race for me, apart for saying "that was and epic race" and "what an amzing Weekend" which goes with out saying. These race weekends came with with some  new challenges, aide for the floating walls, the death by chain carry and the next to vertical sandbag carry ( bit over dramatic) but the past this trifecta came with a personal obstacle, something that i though wouldn't never happen and iam still trying to get my brain round it. Back in February my hearing started to reduce and sounds wore muffled  then it would sort it self out again, over a few weeks this continued, untill Mid April, when i lost all my hearing. Obviously saw medical advice, they dont know what has caused the nerve damage to cause my deafness, after a cocktails of medications and tests they have said that my hearing will not return. This was quite deverstating to me, as someone who was partially deaf from a birth, to become fully  deaf as an adult is a hard transition.
As running and @spartanraceuk was my escape and cure for mental health, i slamed on the brakes on it all, socially withdew myself and not able to engage in conversations and banter with people (those who know me i will talk to the world and thier dog) was hard not to as i could  hear, i deferred my races, but after speaking to @benallenruns and @samhall_ocrosteo and some of other Spartan Ambassador, they persuaded me to come out on the Mens Mental Health sprint wave in Henley in May, naturally bing worried about not being able to hear anything that had been said, this was hard for to not talk to people they ran along side me and supported me all the way round.
Flash forward to this weekend being fitted for a hear aid and using it for 4 weeks, eveything was muffled and disoriented, but having said that the beast was the first race that i ran with the HA, being extra cautious around the muddy obstacle so not to damage the HA and alowing extra time to remove it and replacing it around the water obstacles, not only was the Beast a physical challange but the mental challange of hearing muffled sounds and hearing bits of conversations on course....
