yesterday @charles.peterson.photographer posted this beautiful tribute photo of the great @jenniferfinch, noting that it was taken at a gig in Olympia WA. in 1991…and immediately I was like “𝘐’𝘮 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘧 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘴, 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦…𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵…𝘐 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘉𝘌 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦!” and as it turns out.. 𝗜 𝗔𝗠! 🤯🙏🏼💕✨(see vid.)

that night I remember being mesmerized by Jennifer's *gigantic* charisma, humor, and insanely fucking🔥WILD🔥energy. + towards the end of the gig (*or...possibly at the gig they played the next night in PDX, which I also went to?? *sorry it's been 35 (!) years) I vividly remember her scaling the giant stage left PA speaker tower, with her jean shorts around her ankles (+ still "wearing" her bass!) and then maniacally rocking out once she got to the top…and thinking “𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗧 𝗜’𝗩𝗘 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗦𝗘𝗘𝗡/ 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗪𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗬 𝗙𝗨𝗖𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗢!!” and it got me so hyped that I muscled my way on stage and did a backflip stage dive (!) for the first (and as it turns out, also the last) time

I’m only telling this story to convey how totally blown away by, enchanted by, + INSPIRED I was by @jenniferfinch 🙏🏼❤️ she was a 𝗳𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗖𝗘 + I feel extremely fortunate to have even *been in the same space* with her at that moment. + by all accounts she was a radiant, shining star of a woman, and a human, and she will be greatly missed. 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧 𝗝𝗘𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗙𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗛! + 𝗟𝟳 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤

Black Mercy’s final performance 🥹 and they brought the same dope raw hardcore energy as the first time I saw ‘em in 2017/18 - pre set sketch of @manewitz who was also at the show back when, when they opened for Negative Approach at Barracuda. And afterwards caught the wonderfully destructive end of @teardungeon on the @hotelvegastexas patio.
