Civic Grid was included in the @royalacademyarts summer show (thanks to @farshidmoussavi @stephmacdonald6a @tomemerson6a)

@civicgrid is an ambitious Canadian startup reimagining how clean energy infrastructure takes form in cities. It aims to advance the urban energy transition by developing decentralised, local systems conceived as civic architecture.

The flagship prototype is currently under construction and slated to open later this year. I’m so grateful to work with the immensely talented @maxfine (founder) and @harskamparchitecture (architect) – a really rare example of totally collaborative design and seamless teamwork.

Thu 13 Jan, we officially launch Kommunen! Join the free digital event (link in bio).

This English translation of the Ungers’ cult classic is an excellent overview of the fantastical reality of Utopian life experiments in the “New World”.

The launch will involve two panels - on the history of the book and utopian life in the US, and on how to design a translation. Join me, editor and translator Winston Hampel, Sophia Ungers, Anja Sieber-Albers, and designers Chris Lawson and Seb Mclauchlan.

‘I don’t see any distinction between online and offline. Any type of dichotomy created is one that belongs to the era of the information superhighway. We don’t talk about the internet that way anymore. There is real space and there is virtual space, but they are both, in a sense, actually real spaces. The space of Instagram is just as real as Trafalgar Square.’ Architect and writer @j_self talks to @laraletticejw
