AMERICA, TOO — Jabari

Taking its title from Langston Hughes’s “I, Too,” this series continues a conversation running through Quiladelphia: what does it mean to inherit an American dream and imagine something beyond it?

Through Black Americana, I return to the flag as a site of tension, desire, and possibility. These photographs explore how Black masculinity carries the weight of a nation’s myths while making room for tenderness, pleasure, and self-determination. Discovery becomes a way of looking inward: finding what belongs to us, what we carry forward, and the futures we can create for ourselves.
