My boy gets his first collegiate goal… and it comes on a face off with a long pole. 😎
For those not LAX savvy… when the other team has a dominant face off guy, occasionally the opposing coach will throw in a long stick guy just to disrupt and slow down the fast break. In this case, Coach threw Jace (the speedy LSM) in as a bit of an experiment.
Kid capitalized on the moment.

My boy generally doesn’t hear too many stories from back in the day. Mostly just the big ticket ones that most folks have heard.
Meeting up with Super Blind at the climbing gym gives @erikweihenmayer the opportunity to share the rarely heard tales of glorious summits, near misses, cold nights, dropped ice tools and belly laughs… all collected over 30 years of adventuring around the globe together. Some of which are true. 😁
•
A week in Colorado for some food other than tacos, tasty backcountry turns and pulling down on plastic… then we scoot back south for wind, sea and sand.

For years now I’ve been seeing stories and photos of parents dropping off their kids at college. Always seemed like a distant, melancholy event that I just didn’t want to even consider with my only kid.
Well, time waits for no one and here we are.
•
He’ll have a couple weeks of acclimatizing to this new environment, learning how to student and adult at a higher level prior to lacrosse practice/lifts kicking off in earnest the first of September.
•
We surely filled up these last few weeks as a trio… @widespreadpanichq, @derekandsusan and @foofighters shows as well as a couple of professional @denveroutlaws lacrosse games. Each of us soaking in last few weeks of this life stage. It’s been a good run.
•
It’s gotta be one of the more bittersweet events a parent can experience. For 18 or so years, we invest every single thread of ourselves into crafting a worthy and capable young human that can function semi-independently and then… gently nudge them out of the nest.
Fly, be free.
•
But as many will attest, parenting never ends… it simply evolves, and this next stage has now commenced. He will certainly always need us and we will need him. Maybe that’s why MB and I have hovered in the hills/mountains within striking distance of Grand Junction this week in our RV… juuuuust in case he called out for us (or maybe even just wanted to see us).
•
We are sad to see him go but excited to see him grow.
