With our guest curator Ignazio Colt Nicastro (@icnicastro), we explored the works of our #BEINGSCENE25 artists, Caylen Monroe (@caylenmonroe), Jace Traz (@jacetraz), and Apanaki Temitayo (@apanakitemitayo)

We got to hear about each artist’s story, how their work came to be, and what they’re working towards. Our artists shared with us their process and techniques, and what inspired the creation of their works.

Together, we got to learn more about our #BEINGSCENE25 artists and from guest curator @icnicastro who offered their perspective as a contemporary art curator, writer, and community builder to explore what’s next for our artists.

Thank you to our artists and guest curator for joining us yesterday evening! We look forward to our next Open Studio, coming in September. More details to come.

When an artwork is created, it becomes an expression of an artist's inner world.

The artist considers how best to translate thought, emotion, memory, and experience into physical form.

Yet, there is no way to guarantee how art will be interpreted. Each of us approaches a work through a lens informed by our own perspectives and histories.

Acts of expression resist isolation by reminding us that understanding is not passive; it is something we practice. The practice is further enhanced when we do so in community.

Workman Arts (@workmanartsto) continues to support evolving our understanding of mental health and addiction by fostering opportunities for creation and presentation for artists with lived experience.

By supporting Workman Arts, you help empower uniquely talented artists while challenging and advancing evolving perspectives on mental health.

Ah! La Lettre! is playing a set right before me (and the 3 mes) with Jace on drums and Janna on viola for the last show of my residency at the Tranzac. I missed 2 of the residency shows because I was in the hospital, so let's try to make this one special. So excited to share the stage with Gabi for the first time in a while! You will have come to the right place. 9:30pm right after the open stage.
