On a random Saturday in March… my seven-year journey as a cheerleader came to an end.

In that moment, I didn’t know how I was supposed to feel. I was sad, angry, and quietly wishing for just a little more time. It took a lot of reflection to realize that, above everything else, the feeling I’m left with is gratitude.

I am grateful for the unwavering support from my parents and family—from the abrupt switch from soccer to cheer, to every step that followed. Thank you for helping me build confidence, not just in my sport, but in myself. For giving your time and energy to every new path I chose, even when it wasn’t easy. Thank you for not giving up on me, especially in the moments when I was ready to give up on myself.

I am grateful for my coaches—all of them. Each program, each expectation, and every standard shaped me into who I am today. I’ve taken something from every single one of them, and I’ve grown because of it. That’s all an athlete can really ask for.

I am grateful for my friends who stayed, who shared this journey with me, and embraced every adventure along the way. In every place I went, I found a small piece of home in them. Without that, I’m not sure I would have made it through.

And finally, I am grateful for myself. I didn’t give up. I didn’t run from new opportunities or lose myself when things got hard. The kid who started this journey would be in awe of everything we’ve accomplished… and maybe a little heartbroken at how quickly it all passed.

I can’t wait to see what is in store next… I feel like it’s gonna to be beautiful 💛

So many feels. I’ll never be able to come up with the words to adequately describe my love for this team.. and every time I try I just cry. The dedication to excellence and to each other has truly been a joy to watch this year. The love for one another on AND off of the mat has been unmatched. The ups and downs, challenges faced and conquered, tears shed and fears released.. it’s all for THAT moment. In a perfect world everything works out as we want it, but the reality is that we don’t live in a perfect world and we can only control what we can control. I am so proud to be a small part of the athletic career of some of the most talented athletes in the country, but knowing I get to coach some of the best HUMANS as well.. it’s special. Thank you Kentucky Cheer. Thank you for being excellent. Thank you for giving me a routine I can watch back with pride in my heart knowing you did your job. Thank you for being so fun, for loving my babies always and for striving to always be the best you can be. You make this job feel like it’s not a job. Thank you Coach Ryan for allowing me to have the best job in the world and being our fearless leader. You give your all to this program and I am so extremely proud to be by your side through it all. Your demand for excellence has been the guiding force to making these athletes fantastic on and off the floor. Your love for them and this program is something that can’t be faked. To Coach Bethay, thank you for being the glue to our staff and holding us together even when we might seem out of our minds. Thank you for accepting our crazy and going with it and being here through it all. To our seniors.. we wouldn’t be here without your incredible leadership and determination to keep this team and culture TBND. I’ve loved watching you all step into your roles and the gaps you leave are large and irreplaceable. I might still be in denial that I won’t see you step out on to that floor at tryouts. Thank you for being seniors that we will miss having and don’t want to leave. That’s a different kind of special. To our returning team members and incoming team members.. I hope you’re ready. The jobs not finished. #TBND #fortheloveoftheK
