Book Pile Up as I edit my syllabus for next week's Textiles Take Shape. It is such a fun class to teach and I learn so much from it every year. The class began centered on Janelle Porter's "Fiber: Sculpture 1960 to Present" and has since included "The Geometry of Hand Sewing" by Natalie Chanin and books on mending like "Mending Matters" by Katerina Rodabaugh and Erin Eggenburg's "The Mending Directory." "Queer Threads" by John Chaich and Todd Oldham has proven to be such a prescient text. Jen Hewett's "This Long Thread" is a must read: through Hewitt's questionaire and interviews so many art/design/craft histories are brought to light and shine! Shout out to
Elissa Auther, Glen Adamson, Maria Elena Buszek and T'ai Smith- amazing writers in this space.
