Drumroll for our fantastic Director of Photography, Jack Fralick!! 🎥
Jack is a director of photography entering his final year of the MFA program at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. Jack’s love for visual images began with street photography with his dad at the age of 12. As an undergraduate film student in Texas, Jack gravitated to cinematography as his major emphasis. Jack’s work put him on dozens of sets in the Austin and Houston areas, winning multiple cinematography awards. Jack moved to Los Angeles to continue to pursue his goal of bringing directors’ visions to the screen as a cinematographer.

Had a great experience shooting on 35mm for the first time and recreating a lighting style I have always wanted to try. We made some texture in the background with a 20x20 silk and some black cardboard and pushed the camera around on a curved track.

Would love to try this again sometime with spears that aren't made of cardboard 🗡

Excerpts from "Heavy Metal" (2026).

Shot on the Sony Venice 2 for the first time. What an incredible camera. It cuts surprisingly well with the Fx3 too. It helps that we had such a cool subject to photograph 🤺⚔️
