We did it. We’re on the other side of a year since Viliami’s homegoing. A year ago, we were trying to process the impossible. So much was happening, so much that needed to be done, and little time to really process any of it. This time around, we had the chance to do things differently. To be intentional about how we wanted to honor him and celebrate the life he lived.

It’s always so healing being surrounded by family. And after such a tough year, I think we all needed to come together for something that felt more like a celebration than a goodbye. To share stories, laugh, enjoy each other’s company, and remember him with love.

I don’t think I can ever fully express my gratitude to everyone who helped make it all possible. The kids, our siblings, nieces and nephews, and all of our family and friends who gave their time, energy, resources, and love. To those who traveled to be with us, those who supported us from afar, and everyone who showed up for our family, thank you. None of it went unnoticed, and we are so grateful.

A special thank you has to be given to the kids for their beautiful performances. Baby Nancy, Tamataane, Abigail, Kakala, Makisi, The Servants and Kalapu Lalo Mango and others, thank you for the beautiful music. It wouldn’t have been a celebration for Viliami without live music. Kassie, thank you for capturing these moments and so many moments and memories for our family throughout the years. Nui for the candy buffet, Savannah for the yummy desserts, Aleigha, Myles and family for the food, Ema and Latu for the sides. All of our adult kids, Abby, Terrick, Finn, Mele, Ou and TK thank you guys for everything and putting up with all of us and our planning. The GET DONE CREW/Team Get it Done, without you guys none of this would have been possible!

To my Viliami, I know you were with us every step of the way and you were on the dance floor skanking right next to me, Ultra in hand. I hope we made you proud. Every bit of it was for you, with so much love.
