Why do we Power Clean?

The Power Clean is an Olympic lift we implement into many of our older athletes’ programs because it teaches athletes to produce a lot of force — FAST.

Power Cleans help develop total-body explosiveness, rate of force development, coordination, and the ability to transfer force through the ground. Those qualities carry over to sprinting, jumping, changing direction, and competing more explosively on the field or court.

For our older athletes, there’s another benefit: preparation for the next level. Olympic lift variations are used in college strength programs across the country. Learning proper technique now gives our athletes the opportunity to become confident and proficient with the movement before they ever step into a college weight room.

We aren’t Power Cleaning just to put more weight on the bar. We’re using it to build more explosive athletes and prepare them for what’s next.

This week’s #FeatureFriday goes to the first half of our college crew!

This group includes athletes who have trained with us throughout high school and are now heading off to college, athletes beginning their collegiate careers this fall, and returning college athletes getting ready for another season.

This group has absolutely CRUSHED it this summer. From hitting huge PRs and attacking their speed work, to pushing each other, coaching up our younger athletes, and bringing energy to the gym every day — they’ve made our facility better all summer long.

We’re incredibly excited to see the impact each of you makes during your upcoming college seasons. Thank you for setting the standard for the athletes coming up behind you and for making this summer a special one at ETS.

Go dominate this season, enjoy every second of it, and we’ll see you over breaks and next summer!
