Why not spend a Saturday (or Sunday) afternoon this weekend getting inspired by artists like @jackenergyzone ?

Brickbottom is hosting Open Studios Nov 23 + 24, 12pm - 5pm. (Our neighbors @joystreetstudios will also be open just down the street! There will be 90 artists showing between both buildings this weekend!)

There will be live performances all weekend and there's a cafe conveniently between us both for all of your caffeine needs.

We are within a few blocks of several MBTA bus stops and a green line extension stop, and our building is wheelchair-accessible. Come check us out this weekend!

#brickbottomopenstudios2024 #abstractartist #artliveshere #unionsquaresomerville #somervilleart This is a mixed media painting on wood panel. In the foreground is an abstract shape made of several orange-and-metallic-gold triangles emerging from a circle just off-center. The background looks like someone scraped away white paint covering a textured surface of silver and pink. The painting is by Jack Energy and was made in 2023.

Dive will be at the Overlook Gallery as a part of the Awake exhibition. This painting was created after my amazing experience working on seagrass restoration in Virginia( world’s largest seagrass restoration site). This painting is my most zen to date- I tried to capture the feeling of lightness snorkeling in eelgrass beds:)

Mindfulness and Presence in Art

November 20th, 2023 – December 30th, 2023
Opening Reception: Monday, November 20th, 2023 6:00 - 8:00 pm ET - RSVP Here
Unbound Visual Arts - Overlook Gallery
175 Washington St. Brighton, MA

Unbound Visual Arts is excited to present Awake: Mindfulness and Presence in Art. Curated by Jack Energy, the exhibit explores mindfulness which is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing. In doing so, the show highlights the myriad ways that the concept, practice, and idea of mindfulness takes form in and through art. The diverse range of works included in the exhibit — such as ceramics, painting, and mixed media — illustrate that it is a cornerstone of mental and physical health for many.

Awake will be the first exhibit to take place in UVA’s new Overlook Gallery located at 175 Washington St. Brighton, MA. We hope that you’ll join us for the opening reception to not only celebrate the exhibit, but also celebrate this new step for Unbound Visual Arts. RSVP for the reception at the link below and keep reading to learn more about how you can support our new gallery!
