Another year, another incredible group of student leaders💙⭐️ This week we welcomed our newest Student Service members to the Ryan Nece Foundation family with our annual orientation retreat, full of team building, leadership lessons, and the kind of energy that reminds us exactly why we do this work.

Here’s to a year of service, growth, and impact. Welcome to the family!

The next generation of servant leaders is already here🌟

Swipe to meet nine Student Service Program seniors and hear what they’re carrying with them after two years in the program.

This is what 20 years of the Ryan Nece Foundation has taught us: Give young people real opportunities to serve and lead, and they don’t just become better students. They become better people, and eventually, better leaders for all of us.

Day 3 in San Juan: Gardens, dogs, and a fort that’s seen 300 years of history 🌱🐾

🌿 Para la Naturaleza: Started the day learning about the fruits, veggies, and plants growing in their garden, then jumped in to pull weeds and plant new crops to keep it all thriving. @paralanaturaleza

🐶 Humane Society of Puerto Rico: Split up to help wherever needed, walking dogs, washing dishes, caring for cats, and bathing puppies. So rewarding to support the staff who care for these animals every day. @humanesocietypr

🏰 Old San Juan: Wrapped up the day exploring a historic fort used from the 1700s through WWII, then closed it out with dinner and chocolate.

Gardens in the morning, dogs in the afternoon, history at sunset, that’s a day well spent. Three days down, more to go, stay tuned for recaps of the last day!

Day 2 in San Juan: Two projects, both unforgettable 🌤️🎈

🎉 Niños de Nueva Esperanza: Started the morning at a community center for kids ages 3-12, helping run a bounce house obstacle course on their last day of camp (and picking up some new dance moves along the way). Easily one of our favorite service projects yet! @nnepuertorico

📦 Banco de Alimentos: After lunch, we headed to a Feeding America food bank and packed 140 boxes of oatmeal, rice, canned veggies, peanut butter, and more, enough to put a little more food on the table for 140 households this week. @bancodealimentospuertorico

From dancing with three-year-olds to assembly-line food packing, our students brought the same energy to both. Different scale, same heart, that’s servant leadership in action. Two days down, more to go, stay tuned for recaps of the next days!

It takes a village: 20 years. One community💙

From one person with a vision to a village of servant leaders: This is what happens when people show up for young people, again and again.

Thank you for being part of it.
