TWITCHING TAILS
Playing cards later that evening, The A Team is trying very hard to look happy, even unconcerned, and as if they are enjoying their holiday cruise down The Nile. But nothing could be further from the truth. Baci and Massimo had returned from Luxor and learned that Miss Edweiner Dachshund despite not having any bones broken when the big boulder fell on her from above, was still unconscious and not expected to wake for some days. To make matters worse, neither Sherlock Bones nor Furcule Poirrot was any closer to revealing who had stolen the emerald from Cleocatra’s tomb, and the Director of Pawprints from the Pawtrait Gallery in London reported that the paw/claw prints on the papyrus documents had in fact been smudged. And as if that was not enough, The A Team had since learned that the wicked Mother-in-Law, the Croquembouche Contessa was aboard - albeit with a broken leg, something she had managed to acquire in the bazaar only the other day. They were trying very hard to focus on the card game in hand, when an abrupt gunshot rang out. Curl and Red quickly ran to the door of the cabin and saw the Parisian Poodle vanishing into the darkness along the deck. Baci tries hard to remain calm but her tail is working in the opposite direction. Red runs to see who may have been hurt. Massimo follows Red. Curl pulls out her telefonino and rings……. A TEMPLE OF NERVOUS TAILS
Baci and Massimo are feeling more than a bit shaken. It is the middle of the day, and intensely hot at Luxor. Everything they have seen this morning, and all its wonder, has vanished in an instant. There had been a shout, then a huge boulder fell from up high and poor Miss Edweiner Dachshund had been hit by it. Dogs and cats had been running around madly, and the cats were trying hard Baci thought, to be solicitous and kind. They are watching Miss Dachshund now being carried back to the River and the steamer. Massimo was now looking to see if Curl and Red had made it to to the temple as yet. He can’t see them, so pulls out his telefonino and dials. Baci’s tail is twitching nervously… TO BE CONTINUED …

BOREDOM AND BROKEN LEGS
It’s all getting too much, thinks the Croquembouche Contessa. Here she was to take in some Ancient Egyptian Culture (read Seeking Mega-Rich Potential Husband) and wouldn’t you know it, she’d attempted a nimble step in the bazaar in Cairo and ended up with a broken leg. Not allowing it to prevent her latest husband-seeking adventure she’d been brought aboard only to discover that everyone was heading to Luxor today. How boring. She yells for the cruise attendant yet again - “Where’s my affogato?? Subito!” She turns to pick up the hieroglyph-filled papyrus again …..TO BE CONTINUED.

CHANGE OF IMAGE
Miss Edweiner Dachshund, Expawrer and Dogue Editor-at-Large is taking a break. The sun is high now, and she has been looking with wonder at the ancient Temple of Karnak all morning, and trying to work out the angle she’ll take for her story which is to be filed later today. Stolen emeralds, blood on papyrus, coded messages or none of the above, but instead a piece on her personal fashion decisions, she wonders. For after approximately a week of remaining true to wearing leopard skin faux vegan fur on a daily basis, she has decided to fling it off for clothing more appropriate to the climate. Whilst she knows that she has totally changed her identity and image, and that some may struggle to recognise her, well that is their problem, she feels. She is beginning to feel hungry and feels she could eat a sausage, just as she hears someone yell out “Watch out! Move!!..” Miss Dachshund turns in the direction of the shout, but suddenly everything goes black …… TO BE CONTINUED.

SAFARI SUIT SARTORIALISM
When Algernon Pawter had been promoted to the Chief of Paw-Prints at The National Pawtrait Gallery in Londog, he had never dreamt that his expawtise would be required on the River Nile, determining the identity of paw-prints on purrfect papyruses. Having arrived onto the SS Sultan, he is surprised to find noone on board except the staff who inform him that all the passengers are visiting the ancient city of Luxor for the day. He is shown his cabin, and after taking a few minutes to settle in, decides to have a poke around….TO BE CONTINUED.

THE HEAT IS RISING…..
Arising very early, Lady Hortensia Felinefluff has travelled to the Temple of Karnak before all her cruising companions arrive. Gliding around, she has done a preparatory reconnoitre and is now waiting for her associate to join her. The meeting was supposed to have commenced ten minutes ago. One thing Lady Hortensia Felinefluff cannot abide, is unpunctuality. Tapping her foot impatiently, she feels the heat rising around her. Ah… is that her colleague now? ….. TO BE CONTINUED…..

PAW-PRINTS
Following behind Baci and Massimo and the cast of thousands on the way to visit the ancient monuments of Luxor, Curl and Red have been busy. They have met and informed Sherlock Bones that the cruise will be joined later today by none other than the Head of the Egyptian section of the British Museum and his friend, the Head of the Paw-prints section of The National Pawtrait Gallery in London. This had been at Red’s invitation as he’d like to truly understand whose paw prints are on the Papyrus documents that had been passed to Miss E. Dachshund (and come to think of it, whose blood???). As they step onto the gangplank, however, their gaze is caught by a scene down on the wharf. “Who would have thought,” Curl whispers under her breath to Red. “Indeed” says Red as Curl reaches for her telefonino and dials……..
