FAQ: WILL SURE STEP CHANGE THE LOOK OF MY FLOOR?

It’s one of the first questions we hear from business owners and facility managers.

They want a safer floor — but they don’t want to cover up or replace a floor that already looks good.

That’s one of the reasons we offer Sure Step.

Sure Step is designed to improve traction on many existing hard-surface floors while allowing businesses to address slip risk without installing a new floor or adding a traditional non-slip coating over the surface.

Think about the areas in your facility that look perfectly fine but become slippery when wet:

• Restrooms
• Entrances and lobbies
• Commercial kitchens
• Dining areas
• Pool and locker-room areas
• Tile hallways and common areas

The floor may not look like a problem. That doesn’t mean it isn’t one.

At Silva Slip Prevention, we can evaluate your existing floor, perform a demonstration, and let you see and feel the difference for yourself.

And we stand behind the performance of our Sure Step treatment for 12 months.

You don’t necessarily need a different-looking floor.

You need better traction from the floor you already have.

THE RESTROOM MAY BE ONE OF THE MOST OVERLOOKED SLIP-AND-FALL RISKS IN A RESTAURANT.

We recently completed a Sure Step treatment on the bathroom floor of a restaurant, and it’s a great example of why slip prevention shouldn’t stop at the kitchen.

Think about the environment.

Water around sinks.
Wet shoes.
Recently mopped tile.
Smooth hard-surface flooring.
Customers walking in and out all day.

The CDC studied bathroom injuries and estimated that more than 234,000 people age 15 and older were treated in emergency departments for bathroom-related injuries in a single year.

81% of those injuries were caused by falls.

At Silva Slip Prevention, we don’t believe businesses should wait for an accident or claim before addressing a floor they already know can become slippery.

With Sure Step, we can treat many existing tile and hard-surface floors to increase traction — without replacing the flooring or significantly disrupting the business.

For this restaurant, that meant taking an existing bathroom floor and making it a safer surface for customers and employees.

And we guarantee the performance of our Sure Step treatment for 12 months.

Restaurant owners: don’t just look at your kitchen.

Walk your bathrooms, entrances, beverage stations, dining areas and other hard-surface floors.

If they’re slippery when wet, let’s do something about it before the incident report gets written.

One of my favorite things about this business is that I don’t have to ask someone to simply take my word for it.

I can show them.

When I meet with a business owner or facility manager, I can demonstrate Sure Step directly on their floor and let them experience the difference in traction for themselves.

That’s powerful.

If you have an entrance, restroom, commercial kitchen, pool area, lobby, or other hard-surface floor that you already know becomes slippery when wet, show it to me.

Let me test it.

Let me treat a small area.

Then compare it to the untreated surface.

See the difference. Feel the difference. Decide for yourself.

We’re building Silva Slip Prevention around a pretty simple idea:

If there’s a known problem, let’s address it before someone gets hurt.

And once we treat the floor, we stand behind the performance for 12 months.

If you’re responsible for a facility — or know someone who is — I’d appreciate the opportunity for an introduction.

Give me a problem floor and let me show you what we can do.

Before you replace a slippery floor, give me a chance to test it.

This is one of the biggest opportunities I see as I continue talking with business owners and facility managers.

A floor becomes slippery when wet, so the assumption is:

“Eventually, we’re going to have to replace it.”

But what if the floor itself is still perfectly good?

What if the real issue is simply traction?

That’s where Sure Step can make a significant difference.

Instead of tearing out an existing floor, dealing with demolition, shutting down an area, and spending thousands on replacement, we may be able to treat the surface you already have and significantly improve its slip resistance.

That’s one of the things I really like about what we’re building at Silva Slip Prevention.

We’re not coming into facilities looking for floors to replace.

We’re trying to make the floors you already own safer.

And we guarantee the performance of our treatment for 12 months.

So before you approve a budget to replace a floor because it’s slippery when wet, give me a call.

Let me test it first.

You might be surprised by what we can accomplish — and how much money you could potentially save.

This is one area where I believe we can make a real difference.

As I’ve been meeting with senior living and assisted living facilities, one thing stands out:

Preventing a fall in these environments can be incredibly important.

Bathrooms, dining areas, entrances, hallways, kitchens, therapy spaces — many of these areas have hard-surface flooring that can become slippery when wet.

For a younger person, a slip might mean a sore back or bruised ego.

For an older resident, the consequences can potentially be much more serious.

That’s why I believe being proactive matters.

At Silva Slip Prevention, we’re helping facilities address the floor itself by using Sure Step to increase traction on existing hard surfaces — without the expense and disruption of replacing them.

And we guarantee the performance of our treatment for 12 months.

If you work in senior living, assisted living, healthcare, rehabilitation, or property management, I’d appreciate an introduction to the person responsible for facility safety or maintenance.

I’d be happy to come in, identify potential problem areas, and demonstrate the process.

Sometimes preventing one fall is all the ROI you need.

WEEKLY SAFETY TIP: PAY ATTENTION TO WHERE THE CAUTION SIGNS KEEP COMING BACK.

A wet-floor sign should be temporary.

If the same sign is being placed in the same location day after day, that may be telling you something important:

The floor itself may be part of the problem.

Take a walk through your facility this week and look for areas where employees repeatedly place mats, cones, or caution signs.

Common problem areas include:

• Entrances during rain or snow
• Commercial kitchens
• Restrooms
• Pool and locker room areas
• Beverage and coffee stations
• Tile hallways and lobbies
• Areas exposed to frequent cleaning or moisture

Those recurring locations are worth evaluating before someone gets hurt.

At Silva Slip Prevention, we use Sure Step to increase traction on existing hard-surface flooring and help reduce slip-and-fall risk — without replacing the floor.

And we guarantee the performance of our treatment for 12 months.

This week’s challenge: identify the three areas in your facility where caution signs are used most often.

Those are probably the first floors we should test.

The sights of summer in Charleston aren’t found on a checklist. They’re unlocked.

While everyone else is waiting in line, searching for parking, or wondering where to go next, our guests are already sipping champagne on a hidden piazza, boarding a private yacht, slipping into impossible dinner reservations, or discovering experiences that simply aren’t available to the public.

That’s the difference between visiting Charleston… and having the key to the city.

From private chefs and sunset sails to exclusive tastings, hidden courtyards, VIP nightlife, historic homes, luxury picnics, family adventures, and those unforgettable “How did you pull that off?” moments, we curate every detail so you can simply enjoy the experience.

Luxury isn’t loud. It’s effortless. It’s having someone who knows the city, knows the people, and knows exactly how to make your time here extraordinary.

Charleston. Unlocked.

Charleston isn’t just about where you go. It’s about how you arrive.

Since 1932, Henry’s on the Market has been a Charleston institution, welcoming generations of locals and visitors alike. Nearly a century later, it’s still one of the city’s iconic destinations for live music, cocktails, rooftop views, and unforgettable nights.

Now here’s the fun part…

If you’re a Holy City Affairs Key to the City holder, you skip the general admission line at Henry’s (through 11:00 p.m., subject to capacity and special events).

No waiting. No standing in line. Just walk in and enjoy the night the way Charleston was meant to be experienced.

This is what we mean when we say Charleston. Unlocked.

Luxury isn’t louder. It’s simply having the right key.

If you know, you know.

You know that feeling when you accidentally discover somewhere so good you’re almost tempted not to tell anyone? Yeah… this is one of those places.

Welcome to Casper Coffee & Wine Bar at the Cooper Hotel.

Start with the banana chocolate croissant. Then pretend you’re only ordering coffee before somehow leaving with pastries, artisan sandwiches, and a latte that makes chain coffee taste like it lost a bet. It’s refined without trying too hard, exactly the way Charleston does luxury best.

Finding it? Easy.

Head toward the Pineapple Fountain, make a left, follow the walkway, and you’ll spot Casper tucked beautifully at the base of the Cooper Hotel. Congratulations you’ve just unlocked one of Charleston’s better-kept secrets.

This isn’t just a coffee stop. It’s the kind of place where “I’ll be here five minutes” mysteriously turns into forty-five.

Holy City Affairs Must Do.

Your key to the city isn’t a map. It’s knowing where the locals quietly disappear.

Tonight, we made our way to Southbound for another review, and let’s just say… they understood the assignment.

A kitchen confident enough to send out dishes with completely different palettes, completely different flavor profiles, and somehow have each one tell its own story. That’s harder to pull off than most people realize.

A special nod to Kyle, who somehow managed to be both bartender and our server without missing a beat. Polished, knowledgeable, engaging, and the kind of hospitality that quietly elevates an entire evening.

Now… don’t get too excited just yet.

We’ve got a few reviews already waiting in line before this one drops, but here’s your teaser: they won.

Stay tuned. The full breakdown, the stars, the dishes you should order, and whether it’s worthy of your reservation are coming soon.

Luxury isn’t loud. It’s always noticed.
