Johnston recovers from a 0-1 deficit to defeat DCG 2-1 in a game shortened by weather. Senior forward Danis Dervisevic scores twice in the victory. Seniors Mason McKnight, and Torlawoe Monger each grabbed assists. The match featured a multitude of fouls, resulting in three yellow cards and one red card. Johnston’s next game is scheduled for Saturday against Lincoln Southwest at 1:00 p.m. #DRAGSWIN #FearTheDragon

Five-man limit stacked high by 1 PM. Dogs worked like legends, crew hunted like clockwork. Legacy, grit, and a sky that said ‘go get it.’

Another Iowa pheasant season came to a close earlier in the week. The busyness of cleaning the truck and all things hunting is winding down, and the realities of another roughly seven month hiatus from the fields has set in.

This season’s notables include:

- 57 guests taken afield, including 37 kids (new record, 35 kids being the prior high from two years ago)

- 28 trips made (up from 26 last season)

- 56 of 57 guests shot at least one rooster

- Mileage was down across the board: Piper (347.85), Maverick (320.16), Nate (169.23), Truck (3,708)

- $2.85 average per gallon, $1.98 the low on 12/24/2022, and $3.42 the high on 11/3/2022

- $755.25 in fuel, down about $100 from last season

- 161 roosters harvested / 28 trips = 5.75 birds per trip

- Longest tail feather was 25.5”, shot by me

- No quail harvested (only saw one covey all season, about 15 birds in total)

- No Hungarian Partridge seen during season, only those on IHAP while scouting before season

- Thousands of photos were taken, dozens of which were featured within national publications
