A day at the Pellerossa factory, Italy for @belstaff

Thank you to @jacksonfrederick and the Belstaff team for this wonderful commission. For 30 years Belstaff have been working with family run leather manufacturer Pellerossa SRL to craft there hand waxed leather jackets. Run by owner and founder Vanni and his daughter Camilla in Northern Italy, Pellerossa was established in 1986 and is renowned for its specialised and original recipes and techniques.

We spent a day watching and documenting the factory, the people and the processes. An amazing display of traditional craftsmanship with years of expert knowledge and quite the character running the show.

I posted an old photo from 13 years ago to my story and thought it a cute memory.

Then I started actually looking at that period properly.

For years I wrote about uni like it was the worst time of my life. Like I’d failed. Like everyone else on my course went on to become these brilliant creative forces and I just… didn’t.

I compared myself constantly. Quietly. For a long time.

And I realise now I rewrote that whole chapter as something negative because it was easier than admitting I just didn’t back myself properly. #london #painting #art #writing
