I’m not much of a hucker, but I felt completely compelled by @sketchyandylewis 🤍🕊️ to embrace the @moabswingers ropeswing 💕 on Sunday, one week after Andy passed. It took a small push literally and metaphorically from @shawnwright386 for our stunt of an exit. We felt Andy with us completely. In fact, having never done a solo BASE jump, I’m not sure how I look so much like a BASE jumper for the exit… my only explanation is Andy did it with me (though we all know he’d never pitch that high 🤭). I screamed, “I love you, Andy” at the exit and then while dangling continued to thank him out loud for all that I see of him in me. Feeling the beautiful red rocks surrounding me, I realized I’ve never known these rocks without Andy and simultaneously realized that I don’t have to say goodbye to that. I cried knowing so deeply he is with me, and I know I can most easily tap into that knowing and feeling where he dedicated his art, talent, creativity, and energy in Moab. When Shawn crested the cliff after his jump, he gave @sylvanslacks the biggest hug and then me and told me he spoke with Andy. It was soooo good ~ My 10th @ggby_fest and November 🦃 in Moab 🏜️!! This one will be the year of “the healing tibial plateau 🦴 fracture” and of really meeting the mind of @tom_doocey 🤣 #iykyk It’s been wild to look at the evolution of who I am each time I return to this space. I’ve volunteered as a medic each year while being an emt/ski patroller, then med student, then resident and now attending. From freeeezing while camping in a tent ⛺️ , car trunk, 🚙 trailer, to being cozy in a warm van 🚐 (thank you for installing a heater 🙏🏻 @shawnwright386 ). From being timid to having deep security in who I am. From acquaintances to true friendships and choosing who to put my energy into. And always taking some special time to remember who we have lost over the years and the way those people have touched our hearts ❤️‍🩹. Last year @shawnwright386 and I got engaged 💍 at the very cliff we both jumped off of for the DeLuLu ropeswing this year 🤪 <3. I consider this event my personal New Year 🥳 🥂 . It’s what has stayed constant for a good portion of my adult life.
