Wow!

We can’t believe summer is almost over… and what a summer it’s been! From May through August we had more than 60 volunteers come together to provide more than 200 hours of service! Y’all showed up for meal service and prep at @stlukessoupkitchen_nyc 10 times! Y’all came out for our first meal service back at @encorecommunityservices (where program manager @laurenabrickman also taught an improv workshop!) and did we mention we found a new partnership with our friends at @xaviermission?! PLUS we had our most successful Operation Backpack drive ever!

Y’all showed up for our amazing fundraiser variety show at @ucbtny hosted by the absolutely hilarious and wonderful @johnarthurhill and came through with over 137 backpack donations and two incredibly productive days stuffing 789 bags with @voagny!

We have been inspired, heartened, and filled with joy to see so many new & familiar faces throughout this busy summer! Did we mention we had a Kids Serve field day, too?! Kids Serve folks have REALLY been showing up and were excited for what we have planned for Fall - so keep your 👀 peeled!

It’s not lost on us how busy your schedules are - yet somehow between the 8 show weeks, auditions, rehearsals and everything else life throws at you… you all show up. That’s community care. That is “being the change beyond the stage”.

Special thank you to our amazing service captains & program assistants: @_haley.kathleen_ @catherineciao @__victoriaprice & @theunweededgarden and of course to our founders @misskimizzo & Dionne Figgins who started it all!

Broadway Serves has been serving NYC and beyond for over a decade… and we are just getting started thanks to YOU! We can’t wait for what’s coming in Fall & beyond. Check out our September service opportunities, spread the word about what we do, and get ready for all the good vibes ahead!

With Gratitude,
Team Broadway Serves

Ragtime Bows June 25th to celebrate the closing. August 16th is Ragtime's final performance @lctheater after what was supposed to be a 14 week run that then became a 46 week run lasting 10 months and 3 weeks. This show was truly live changing and there is a reason it won so many Tony awards. It starred the incredible @joshuahenryofficial the wonderful @branuran and the amazing @caissielevy . This cast was fully out standing with also such great performances by @thisbendavis @benlross @kaylapecchioni who all just blew me away. This cast with this show was truly perfect and one of a kind and I'm so sad it is closing.

What a thrilling summer for these Broadway kids who are part of the Tony Award-winning revival of Ragtime! Ahead of closing on Sunday, they stopped by our BROADWAY Sign to celebrate their debuts by signing our Broadway Book. Bravo Jackson (@jacksonparkergill), Alijah (@alijah_kraig), Ellie May (@ellie.may.sennett), Greyson (@greysonj.chapman), and Kameron (@kameronlyons67)! #FridayFave

Last Wednesday, I had an amazing theater-focused solo day in NYC, primarily at the Lincoln Center complex to see Ragtime before its closing date and visiting the New York Public Library’s Library for the Performing Arts for a prospective career chat with one of their curators. 🤩✨ was also so fortunate to meet some of the amazingly talented and kind actors at stage door!
