I remember the first time I met Al. It was my first night shift behind the bar at Rabbit. This random guy steps into my well and starts making drinks alongside me. At first I was confused and slightly annoyed. But soon he had me laughing at every turn. I knew we would get along great.

Over the next few years I had the pleasure of running Red Rabbit alongside Al. I like to think we make a great team. I learned a lot from this guy, and I continue to lean on his advice and support. It’s reassuring to know someone always has your back, and he ALWAYS has your back.

I’ve never known anyone quite like Al. He is the most genuine, easy going, and quick witted person I have ever met. He knows just how to handle any situation and always makes you feel welcome at his bar. We’ve had plenty of heart throbs and eye candy behind the stick at Rabbit, but the real draw is and always has been Al. In my mind, he is the soul of this place.

Red Rabbit is closing an important chapter. There will be an Al sized hole (5’9”) left behind that can never truly be filled. I’m certain I can speak for everyone when I say he will sorely be missed. But things change, as they must, and we all move on eventually. We were lucky to have the time we did, and J Street is a better place because of you. Thanks for 10 great years at the Red Rabbit. Cheers to you, Al!
